Not true. Salif Keita, Baaba Mal, Youssou N’dour, Tinirawin are all huge artist. I don’t know any Nigerian artist except Fela, and he was an African version of James Brown. Soul Makossa is the most recognizable African song in America and I think Babatunde was from Cameroon.

What a beautiful song! Everything about the song is so addictive and captivating. I couldn't help getting reminded of Ethiopian music, specifically those from Gigi (a collab would be fire). I became very interested in the resemblance of the sound, melody and language of the Bambra with Ethiopian languages. It is interesting how West and East Africa would have such a resemblance in their music.
