Fantastic presentation! Thank you so much Kimberly. I also wanted to say this gave me the courage to do something with my finished cross stitch that I’ve never done before. Trimming the linen and getting it right really was rewarding. Thanks again for giving me the confidence to complete my pillow.

The only thing I would do differently is add light-weight fusible interfacing to the back of the cross stitch to protect the stitches. It's probably not all that necessary but it's something I like to do to all of my stitched pieces. Thanks, Kimberly. Very nice tutorial.
@sadiejosiemom5 жыл бұрын
I made a darling patchwork Teddy cross stitch years ago on linen and turned it into a pillow. Over time, the seamline where the cross stitch connected to fabric trim pulled apart. I don't think interfacing was being suggested back then but I definitely think it would've prevented that from happening - though in this case it wouldn't be to protect the stitches but I see what you're saying. Lots of great tips in this video though!!

This was a great tutorial! I have made several pillows of different sizes out of my cross stitch pieces over the years. I sometimes would add piping to the outside edge, but now I add a binding which is easier and looks just as good. After I cut my cross stitch piece, I do add interfacing to the back, as rebeccasewing mentioned, plus I either serge or zig zag the edges once I've added the quilting fabric to the cross stitch fabric. I really like that you added the link to the quilting fabric you used in making this pillow! So many of use like to use the "exact" same thing!

Thanks, Kimberly! I have a piece that I'd like to make into a pillow. Never done it before and am having a hard time figuring out the measurements. Can you tell me how big your crossstitch piece is after you trimmed it? I'd like to compare to my already stitched piece. Thanks again!
@RejeanneCote-f8e8 ай бұрын
Thank you bunches. This is very helpful for me. My aida cloth count fabric is larger so I think I will put stabilizer behind my piece to keep it from moving so much. It is about 30 years old. It was my first cross stitch piece. They are about 17 or so 7” block pieces. I almost threw it away, frustration got the best of me, so I put it to the side at that time.

Awesome Kimberley. Can you give some guidelines of what the size must for any type of pillow form I.e if its 16" what must the pillow cover be?

Hello Barbara! Kimberly uses 1/4-1/2” bigger. So if 16” pillow form she makes her top 16.25 to 16.5.

I'd like to turn paper pieced feather from cherry heart quilts into pillow but I'm new to quilting and sewing and have some questions. Should I add interfacing or muslim to the block or whole front of pillow? I also have 16 by 16 forms but my measure are 12 X 9.5 Do I just add sides like you did and have total measurements being 16 and 1/4 and one last question I got cording with a lip do you have a video on how I would sew that on? Thx any help is much appreciated!
@FatQuarterShopFlossTube5 жыл бұрын
Hello Chloe! You could add interfacing or muslin, that's personal preference but we do not typically because it doesn't absolutely need it unless you'll be changing out the pillow form a lot. If you add borders to make your pillow a 16" square then that will work. We don't have a video on corning, but we have this piping video which uses a similar technique for using it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWqZYqGLo5pobKc

Create a cross-stitch project into a quilt!
@nancy-katharynmcgraw26693 жыл бұрын
I did exactly that for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary quilt. I had tried to photocopy in color, & in black & white. I chose the latter. She was in a white long dress & he was in his dress Navy White uniform! With this technique, I was able to use it in the cross stitch verse & on the wedding photo on fabric... was not so fussy as there were other photos on this signature quilt, processed the same way. I sized the signature rectangles to 1/4 the block size of the central photo & upper cross stitch verse. I loved how it turned out, for them. I also made a drawstring bag to keep the quilt in, when not hanging; the bag also has another wedding photo onto fabric & framed it, the bag was of scraps of the quilt. It was for 1997 anniversary...took me several years to complete it, However. 😁
