If anybody was curious who the greatest Rock n Roll saxophonist of all time is, well there he is. Tall, lanky Lee Allen who played with Little Richard, Fats Domino, The Blasters, plus some great solo work as well as an in demand session player. He had the sound, the feel and the ability to create solos and horn lines that made all those old records sound so cool.

Dave Bartholomew*, one of the architects of rock and roll, passed away at the age of 100 on June 23rd, 2019... He partnered with Fats Domino on early rock classics including co-writing “Ain’t That a Shame.” The New Orleans trumpeter, band leader, producer, songwriter, and arranger was involved in many iconic songs including “Lawdy Miss Clawdy,” “Blueberry Hill,” “I’m Walking,” and “I Hear You Knocking”... Bartholomew was band leader for one of New Orleans premier R&B bands when he became an A&R man for Imperial Records. At Imperial, he brought in Fats Domino, working with him on combining R&B with big band, jazz, and country to create early rock and roll. Bartholomew was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991... May he R.I.P. * As noted above, Mr. Bartholomew was a co-composer, along with Fats, of "I'm In Love Again"...

Fats Domino performed "I'm In Love Again" in the movie "Shake, Rattle, & Rock!"; the film had its world premier on this date {Nov. 30th} in 1956... Earlier in the year on April 28th it entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; and eventually it peaked at #3 and spent almost a half-year on the Top 100 {23 weeks}... On May 19th it reached #1 {for 9 weeks} on Billboard's R&B chart... The record's B-side also charted, "My Blue Heaven", it peaked at #21 and stayed on the Top 100 for 20 weeks...
