The difference between Kruber and Mallobaude is that the latter obsessed over finding the grail and getting the blessing of the Lady to the point he became insane and his heart became black from hatred and malice for the Lady because he had wasted his whole life devoted to her. Kruber stayed pure of heart because he fights for something much bigger than himself and he's fully aware of that and isn't fighting for fame or glory but to protect the world from Skaven and Chaos. That is why Kruber was chosen despite not being fully Bretonnian while Mallobaude was rejected.

Kerillian appears to suspect this is the case in VT2 based on her dialogue with the Grail Knight career, but it was never confirmed until the late stages of End Times if I remember right. Lileath turned to humans because she was denied the ability to create her own race, and she ultimately found them to be a lot more loyal to her than Elves were.

Who is this guy? Who’s the Lady? Why is this so unbelievably cool? And now that I’ve played Vermintide 2, I’ve bought the DLC, I’ve played them in Total War Warhammer, and I’ve read up on their lore, I’m back here where it all began, with this video in my recommended. @Heavy Metal Pulp They are like a bit less effective on all fronts, and usually have severe health issues as a result of the procedure (some need to wear their power armor constantly to compensate for this I believe), but for all intensive purposes they are basically equivalent to Astartes in the lore. It's just a really inefficient way of creating super soldier's compared the transforming kids who are more receptive to the Astartes procedure. I mean if Astartes themselves can cross the Rubicon Primaris even after their initial procedures, I see no reason why you couldn't Astartify a grown man with similar risks.

This light burns and blinds Chaos and Undead affiliated creatures. During especially intense moments of combat the Grail Knights can get a similar rush and glow back for a little while. While it's a bit far fetched that Kruber can become a Grail Knight because of a distant ancestor, it's not all that bad. Remember, there is a contingent of Bretonnian Knights who have settled in the Border Princes, and it's a lore point as to it being questionable whether or not they are true Bretonnians with the Lady's blessings or not. The idea of Bretonnian expatriates does exist, and it's an interesting one to explore. Where Kruber becoming a Grail Knight becomes more iffy is that he's never undertaken a Grail Quest. Even this is not that big an obstacle however, as the Lady has on rare occasions granted people Grail Knight or Grail Knight like powers without being Questing Knights. All the original companions were granted the Grail with no run up, and Repanse de Lyonness seems to have been granted Grail Knight like power similarly out of the blue. So it's not impossible, it's just a once in a blue moon event.

I'd say it's reasonable. The Lady even made a Bretonnian peasant a Grail Knight (Geg of Wainfleet) when he showed courage that his supposed lord lacked. What's more, every account of the Grail Quest's specifics comes down to "it's not a test of capability". Rather, it's a test of faith and willingness to serve. Arrogant knights who expect a reward for being strong never find the Grail. Good-enough knights open to the Lady's will, do. Markus has never been particularly religious; he rarely, if ever mentions Sigmar. The only god he seemed to revere was Taal, which is more like respecting a force of nature. Well, Taal wasn't doing him any favors. The Lady did, and she's a force of nature you can see. Makes a lot of sense.

They made a twitter post man, to dumb it down a bit, he is the long lost/last heir of another Bretonnian hero. Basically, hero is framed for murder, he has to flee from Paravon into Ubersreik area (where he gets busy) and so a while down the line up comes Kruber. Name dies over time but he is of Bretonnian blood technically so the Lady probs doesn’t mind too much so allows him to succ that grail, cus he’s pretty much Karl Franz kind of badass already

A part of me wish a character like the bretonnian from Trollslayer when gotrek and Felix went Karak- eight-peaks. Like that would be amazing, always loved image of bretonnians wenturing out in to the world on epic quests. But implementing a whole new character, would cost a lot of effort, time and cash, so it's fully understandble that you guys when for this :)

I would like to ask a question to those who complain that Kruber is now a grail knight for being half-bton. Because it is valid that Kerilian, being a wooden elf, has an exclusive profession of the high elves for finding a temple that whispers to her or another of the dark elves for being a distant descendant of a house of assassins but this is not it? This is as valid as what they did with her, since put like this, the most logical thing is that Kerilian had been a shadowy dancer instead of a murderer and a guard of the clearing instead of a maiden.
