Hello Doctor, i had my scan and have grade 3 fatty liver, a cyst on my kidney and swollen blood vessels, swollen enlarged liver with a moderate amount of scarring. Can i do anything to help heal my liver? Im 54 abd am not ready to pass away yet. Is there a grade 4 or grade 5 fatty liver? Mine is enlarged has a lot of lines on it and a large very dark patch. I don't think i was supposed to be twisting myself to see the screen but when the dr noticed he swivels the screen so i could see as it was really hurting as he was pressing the scan thing into my belly and ribs and side.

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. You can take some measures to improve liver health. Adopt a healthy, balanced diet. Focus on whole foods, including fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Avoid processed foods, sugary drinks, and high-fat foods. Focus on regular physical activity. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise, like walking, most days of the week. Avoid alcohol. Keep in touch with your doctors and go for regular follow ups as advised. Best Wishes!

There is no grade 4 or 5 fatty liver. Grade 3 is the last one.

@@DrSamsImagingLibrary Based on all the reading and "research" I've done on fatty liver, the food recommendations provided by Dr. Sam are incorrect. You should not be eating any fruit because the fructose gets metabolized directly by the liver and contributes to fatty liver. You should not be eating any grains, because grains are starchy carbohydrates that convert to sugar and contribute to fatty liver. Be careful too with eating vegetables, especially starchy root vegetables such as potatoes and sweet potatoes. Never eat anything made of corn. You should be eating high fat foods as they are very satiating and will replace the junk you are probably eating now. I changed my diet and reduced carb intake and in 2018 I added in more fatty meat and consumed fewer carbs. I have had 3 abdominal ultrasounds... 2020, 2021, and 2024. They all reveal NO FATTY LIVER. Prior to that, when I ate a more "relaxed" and varied diet, mild fatty liver was detected in my ultrasounds. Bottom line: Fats do not cause fatty liver; carbohydrates and sugar do.

No, grade 3 fatty liver and fibrosis are not same. However, fibrosis can occur in a grade 3 fatty liver.

If the liver is bright, the diaphragm can be seen weakly and the hepatic veins can be seen weakly, but the wall of the portal vein cannot be seen and the length of the liver is 18 cm is this fatty liver grade three ?

Usually, a simple liver cyst does not cause any issues and does not require any treatment unless there are symptoms or if the cyst grows in size.
