@PokutePyon That's part of the fame that they come with. But you have to realize, it is also their interpretation of a very emotional song. Naturally, more people will be inclined to hear Yo Yo Ma play with an orchestra rather than Mr. Gaisford play with a piano. Nevertheless, I find this video to be the best interpretation x)

To be absolutely honest, I do not understand how the likes of Julian Lloyd Webber and Yo Yo Ma, with their only seemingly "powerful", but in fact, weak performances of this piece can attract more views than this more suiting and touching interpretation.

The late Jane Carlson left her mark with all of her students, and Ms. Melgar is no exception. The piano part is no picnic, but Ms. Melgar plays it masterfully. Of course Mr. Gaisford is well-known as one of the premier cellists today, and his performance here shows us why.

@regaldrifter It's not supposed to sound like anything. They are just sounds. They invoke thoughts of mourning, therefore its an elegy, but the interpretation of that sound can vary just as much as the different ways people cope with death.
