You're inspiring me to bust out my wheel and get spinning again! My fiber time is limited, so I mostly use it for weaving these days. But I remember a while back you said that 10 minutes a day was a worthwhile effort, so I'm changing my mindset. As for projects, I'm finishing up a set of towels for the Maker Faire at my work, the proceeds of which go to charity. I work in a very creative industry, and many of my colleagues are very skilled makers. I designed the towels to celebrate the launch of our new design system "Mercado" that we've been working on for over 2 years. The towel colors are inspired by the new color palette of the design system. I think they're going to be very popular at the Maker Faire! Thanks for always sharing and keeping me excited about fiber!

Fantastic! Good luck on the Maker Faire! That’s so cool to hear about your towels that you’ve designed. I’d love to see them!

Oh to be able to buy one of each. One could dream.... I would love too take a course with the scarfs on a ridged heddle loom. I would love to make one but wool prices are really out of my price range. Wool has seemed to have gotten really expensive in the last ten years. I can no longer afford them. I love spinning it’s my favourite I love that you’re in Vancouver I am on the island.

I am spinning with my new espinner from Ashford. I am taking classes with SOS. After watching this, I had to order a rigid heddle loom. Down another rabbit hole but gladly. Thanks for all the inspiration.

Wow, those faux ikat technique is really cool. I love the scarves you made with it. I've been "off" weaving all this year, but you are trying to tease me back. Ha!

Thank you!! Yes, I was surprised too... I though it might be stiff, given the tighter sett :)

AHHHH those scarves are so pretty! This is the first time I have been tempted to learn how to weave! Alas, most of my time has been spinning. I purchased a lot of fiber during spin together and I need to spin my stash down.

Lovely to see the weaving. Sad to say I lost my weaving mojo in March 2020 (wonder why?!) but have been doing lots of knitting and spinning. I signed up for a one year subscription with Long Way Homestead for 12 different breeds to spin, and have been enjoying that. I would love to spin some Rocky Mountain Meadow but was disappointed to learn that it was exclusive to Schacht and now I don’t see it on their website. Maybe you can produce it now or something similar? Hope so, I have enjoyed spinning Sweet Georgia fibres for years.

Those rovings are gorgeous!!!! 😍 As are the scarves. I have been spending about 2-3hrs and evening on my wheel. I am constistent enough now after plying I have only approx 0.1oz waste left over on one bobbin. Exploring creating custom colour blends on my blending board to achieve a perfect fractal everytime. Thinking about selling the rolags as kits for people to use to achieve the same results. Does that sound like something people would want?

When I bought my Ashford espinner, about 2 years ago, from a supplier in UK, (I live in UK) they were offering boxes of ‘taster’ fleece, rather like yours. An excellent idea.

Regular viewer, always a like, but think this is my first comment. Love that you talk about so many of the fiber arts. Was wondering if you could show how to make those twisted fringes. Could it be done by hand? I have several scarfs where some of the fringes became undone. Would love to know how to fix it, if possible. 💕

Good timing Lily! I'm editing a tutorial about making twisted fringe AS WE SPEAK! It should be coming out in a week or so :) But yes, it's possible to do twisted fringe by hand but it takes more time. I have demonstrated that in the rigid heddle class on the School, but the new tutorial is about using a fringe twister :)

The timing of your Ikat weaving could not have come at a better time. I was trying to figure out what the easiest way of preparing the hand painted Yarns for the warp would be to create this effect. Thanks for being on top of things. I can’t wait to see the lessons.

I am weaving a table runner on my rigid heddle loom, I am knitting on my MKAL shawl(I am on section 3), and I am getting ready to spin a carded batt I purchased from a fellow fiber guild member, dyed up in beautiful shades of red.

Oh yes, it’s Bluefaced Leicester wool. It’s a soft and shiny long wool breed of sheep. ☺️
