I love the faux vellum idea! A easier way to shave the candle would be to use a cheese grater. They got small handled ones at dollar tree usually. Then you can get a lot done at once and have a stash whenever you need it! 🤗❤

Very fun. I love the stamping idea. Ive only seen this with printed napkins. I dont own an iron believe it or not. Ill have to look for one at the thrift store. I used to iron all the laundry especially husbands shirts. Since the divorce i havent touched one. Im all ironed out 😂😂😂😂 fun video as usual anne with an e😊❤ you are my inspirational guru❤

Great video. I use a slightly different technique to get the melted wax vellum look. (basically warm up the paper and rub with the side of a candle, use kraft paper as a blotter).I love the pockets you made! I'm going to add something similar to my current journal project. I wonder if I can draw an image with permanent marker? Or maybe I will try something with a preprinted napkin. Ooo the juices are flowing-thanks Anne. (It's not even 8 AM yet)

I would use paraffin wax blocks and use a grater to make the shavings

Love this effect but watching a different video the crafter found that with time the wax trasferred to other items within the journal.

That's interesting, Lynne, thanks for sharing that caution. I can see how, if you were storing your journal in a warm place, that some tissue paper wouldn't go amiss to protect other items.

Thanks!! I did think about the cheese grater but didn't want to co-opt our only one from the kitchen - and I was doing fine with the craft knife. But I do see on here many folks do prefer grating, so....that's grate! (ha!) Thanks for watching.

I love this idea! So fun. I was thinking about the crayons idea, and maybe if you mixed the shavings with white candle shavings, it might be more shear? Just a thought. Reminds me of the Freezer paper technique, but different.

Paraffin wax absolutely has chemicals, but what you’re breathing is likely minimal because you’re melting it rather than burning it.

Thanks, Brenda! I didn't try die cutting but I did use a circle punch on a few pieces - as long as I put a cardstock-weight piece in with the faux vellum, it punched just fine. I don't think I'd try die cutting anything too detailed, though. But it's an interesting thought, thanks for bringing it up.
