Okay I really need to say something- Emma, this is the first time I have found someone who can recommend a book WITHOUT SPOILERS but in such an eloquent manner, giving enough details and promise to get me interested but not give things away. I’m so impressed with your description... maybe you get such a great vocabulary and understanding from reading so many books!! But so many times I have had friends say “oh you should read this, you’ll like it”... like... thanks? Your descriptions and excitement really sold me and honestly I’ll probably pick up all of these from my library. Thanks for the suggestions and keep up the amazing work! Your videos are wonderful. :)

Emma gave some spoilers. I wanted to read a woman in the window for so long and the premise didn't say what happened and then she says it straight in the video so now I won't get that shock factor I would've gotten if I didn't know.

I really love how smart you are with your approaches to these books, that you recognize that a book you loved can still be problematic and have flaws, and that it doesn't mean that you don't love the book if you point out these flaws and talk about them. I feel like that's not always a given in the booktube community and it makes watching your videos really nice!

So, I have to say it. You are the reason I picked up Heretics Anonymous. I think it was before it came out and you really hyped it up. As a former catholic school student, I absolutely adored the read. Anyways, my top like 5 reads of 2018 were 5) What Light- Jay Asher 4) Heretics Anonymous - Katie Henry 3) Stranger Than Fanfiction - Chris Colfer 2) Wintergirls - Laurie Halse Anderson 1) City of Bones - Cassandra Clare (seriously, I dove into this world for the first time since hating it in 2008-ish and I loved it.)

I have read The Woman In The Window because you recommended it and loved it but I totally agree with the end even though I didn’t quite notice it until you pointed it out. I also read The Afterlife of Holly Chase because you recommended it and THANK YOU SO MUCH! as someone who loves everything about the Christmas Carol, this was the best Christmas break read. I am currently reading The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo and I totally agree that you just can’t put it down after a while and can’t live without the story. I am planning on reading both Scythe and Nevermoor as well as Heretics Anonymous and many others you mention in this video. I love how you express your opinions and how you sum up the plot of each book. And I was so surprised that QOAAD wasn’t your number one favorite book of the year although when you said your number one is Renegades I was like “aaaaah okay yeah” because of how much you’ve talked about it this year.

I didn’t read as much as you did but I still had fantastic reads! (in no particular order except for number one): 1. They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera 2. Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson 3. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson 4. The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken (if I had to pick one, it would be In The Afterlight) 5. To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo 6. Warcross by Marie Lu 7. Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch 8. City of Glass by Cassandra Clare 9. The Cruel Prince by Holly Black 10. Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi

Emma: I know superheros aren't for everybody. Let me just tell you that you NEED to read Renegades regardless. I was the person that refused to read Renegades from the moment it came out because I am not a superhero person, nor am I a sci-fi person. This summer I buckled and read it. I read Renegades that morning and Archenemies that afternoon, it was a party. My biggest problem with superheros it the good vs bad idea. Marissa completely scraps thaf for artful morally gray. I love the exploration and room for your own thoughts on the matter! Words just can't describe it. The sci-fi was perfect. Marissa Meyer is the author from which I enjoy sci-fi. No other author has so fully gotten me to enjoy it. There really are no words. Read the trilogy and enjoy the fact that you don't have to wait for Supernova. Plus the fandom for Renegades introduced me to Emma and her channel so, added bonus!

Emma... if you haven’t read An Absolutely Remarkable Thing... you are SO MISSING OUT. It’s actually Absolutely Remarkable. It takes a simple sci-fi idea and runs with it to places you never imagined. All the characters are well-fleshed out and lovable and the main character is so open about how broken she becomes throughout the course of the novel. It’s like nothing i’ve ever read. I actually couldn’t read it for more than an hour at a time because I needed to digest it, but I think you’ll do the opposite and just devour it! This goes out to everyone in the comments too!!!
