I love the idea of keeping the freezer together with bags! We have a big deep freezer and we can't reach the bottom so whatever falls down there is lost forever! Might hafta give that a try.

I'm lucky enough to have 2 freezers. We bought a chest freezer after our 4 month old, practically new freezer broke down and ruined half of our food. So, now, expensive things like meats go in the chest freezer and I organize everything else on the stand up freezer by shelf. Breads, veggies, fruits, ice cream. Then small stuff like butter and flour goes in the door. It's working well so far.

Back in the 1980s it was popular to do meal prep for the month and freeze it. One weekend to cook the beef, chicken, pork, sausage, etc and meal prep for 4 weeks. It was fun to have the protein and side dishes done and out of the way. Once A Month Cooking OMAC it was called. I still do it somewhat, but not like when I was working.

My freezer is an upright because I fell head first in my chest freezer trying to reach the bottom. (I am only 5 feet tall.) I use Dollar Tree baskets instead which I think the idea came from you. I did tell my brother about your bag system and he uses it by solid colors which stands for certain things like red is beef and yellow is chicken and green is veggies. Great ideas by the way as always.

Thanks, Carol! Yes, if our chest freezer ever goes out, we'll probably invest in an upright one next. LOL.

I love how you keep open bags of veggies and stuff in the house freezer. One thing I do that I thought I’d share is when peppers, onions, carrots or whatever start to not look so fresh, I purée them in a food processor and then freeze to add to either homemade marinara sauce or any red pasta sauce. It’s a great way to use the veggies up and no one knows.

Hi Mindy ✨ congratulations on your growing channel! I’d like to request more dairy-free casseroles and crock-pot ideas that everyone will enjoy… one person in my family is lactose-intolerant (but the rest of us love dairy products hah) 💕please and thank you 💕
@kaleighdior53772 жыл бұрын
I ask bc I dislike buying the “dairy-free alternatives” like tofu sour-cream etc. it tastes fine but it’s expensive and I have to make a separate trip to Whole Foods just for those specialty items
@MyLady222 жыл бұрын
Same here! I didn’t realize my bf was lactose intolerant until after we moved in with each other. I can’t make as much dairy dishes like I use to anymore because of him. I still make it sometimes and he’ll eat it but he’ll just have to suffer through it if he chooses to eat it.
@GlamourNNail2 жыл бұрын
At my Sprouts (natural grocery store) I'm able to find lactose free sour cream and cream cheese. They taste a bit different, but they are real dairy, just with the lactose removed. I'm very sensitive to lactose and I can use them both without issues. The brand is Green Valley Creamery. They are a bit more expensive, but it's nice to have an option that tastes basically like the regular thing.

Your mother's recipe for apple crisp....wow this is the first time I have seen a recipe similar to my mother's. We could never replicate it because my mom didn't use measurements. She knew by the texture of the crisp mixture in her hand if it was correct. She always mixed it by using her hand. She also used nutmeg instead of cinnamon because she didn't like cinnamon and she always used Macintosh apples and she never put oatmeal in it. My mom passed away 13 years ago and neither my sister or I or any of our kids have been apple to replicate her apple crisp until just recently my oldest daughter played around with it until she got the texture just right. It had to be crispy with some crunchy bits on the top. Although my daughter was able to succeed at making my mom's apple crisp...in my heart my mom's apple crisp will never be duplicated.

The taco seasoning I would use minced dehydrated onion instead of powdered. A white chili recipe is a couple of chicken breast, one bottle of green salsa, two cans, drained white beans, and four cups chicken broth. Salt and pepper to taste. Cook chicken in broth and either dice or shred chicken. Then add everything back into the pot you cooked the chicken in. Heat to a boil lower to a simmer until heated through.
