So sad that this movie never got the recognition that it richly deserved. I saw it for the first time around 81/82 and have watched it on numerous occasions since. Some amazing performances and music. R. I. P Powers Boothe

I'm not sure if it didn't. It was highly regarded back in the '80s, acting, directing and music. Also I only watched it once as a kid back in the day but the overall feeling stuck to me to this day.

I forgot to mention seven years ago that when I first saw this in late 81 or early 82 on cable, I didn’t know what to make of it from the starting scene…..but then Ry Cooder’s score kicked in for the opening credits and I was absolutely HOOKED. I waited for a repeat airing and recorded it onto a cassette tape so I could hear that opening theme over and over. I was always disappointed that there was never a soundtrack album although I think in the intervening years it was finally released on a Cooder film compilation CD.

Saw this movie in Sweden as young and it's an iconic movie to me. We watch thousands of movies but just a few follow us thru life. This is one of them for me. I bought a blue ray to keep as a reserve. As young I cheered the troopers but today I cheer the bayou men. Maybe cause I see my self as a bayou man in Sweden. The state don't respect people living in the countryside here. They shot blankets on us every day in many forms. Maybe I'm a cajun.
@petegasper2806 Жыл бұрын
Thats a complete lie. We have absolutely nothing similar in Sweden to this. While Powers Booth does the best scene filmed, among dangerous isolated Cayuns. We have absolutely nothing of that. We cant even carry a Gun in Sweden unless you have gone through a severe course of instructions and training. Takes about a year to get that licence. Its for Hunting and those people are extremely careful with riffels and guns. What We have here is a group of extremely harmless people called the Samis WHO are as passive as a human can get. Stockholm Where I live is much more dangeous because of gangster shooting each other over narcotics. We had more than 70 Death shootings last year in Stockholm, but They kill each other and noone else ( dont want to svaret away any tourist). So if you are not a criminal dealing with narcotics Sweden is perfectly safe. With the exception of our aithorities. The people Who should Help people in need lets them die rather than stop drinking their coffee. They really are the scum of the earth. The department is called Socialtjänsten and is the most dangerous department in Sweden. Instead of helping people as is their mission They let mothers and fathers kill their own children instead of stepping in to help. If you would classify departements around the world you would see that the Socialtjänsten in Sweden is the absolute most dangerous and incompetent in the world by a Mile stone
