PLEASE NOTE: What I forgot to point out on the socks and why they are worth it to me is the longevity. Yes, I can buy a pair of socks for $2 - $3 that I have to replace every 3-6 months because I am hard on socks. OR I can pay $16 for one pair that lasts me up to 5 years. If you do that math, you can see that buying the American made socks actually saves me money in the long run so that is where the frugality comes in and at least I can have ONE area I am supporting an American company.

I am hard on socks. They mostly live in boots. So I very much appreciate the Darn Tough Lifetime Warranty. I have returned socks with holes or holes starting and received brand new socks in return. (Do have to pay shipping). Darn Tough are pretty much the only socks I wear now. I have them in different weights for different seasons. There is the higher upfront cost, but once that is spent, you basically have socks forever! Plus family is in Vermont and I like knowing I am spending “local”. I can recommend Darn Tough.

I was thinking that the person who recommended socks to cover jars was thinking of the 1970's style tube socks. I used to use the tops of old tube socks years ago as kind of a "cozy" for my glasses that had cold drinks in them to soak up the moisture on the sides of the glass- I didn't use coasters, but I did use mason jars for drinking. Real white chocolate does have a totally different taste than store bought chips or melts. I love reading the comments on your page, I get so many ideas and am impressed at the ingenuity of your subscribers. This is such a great group of people! Shalom!

I have alpaca socks I got from Etsy. Have only had them for two years so I don't know their longevity. Creamed beef is my favorite breakfast but I generally eat leftovers. Had leftover sinigang (Filipino sour soup) for breakfast today. This time it was more like stew as it didn't have the usual amount of water. It was on the dry side.

Wool socks for our family are harder to find. They often shrink or felt tightly after washing and then won’t fit our larger feet. I really want to try Nordic knee highs this year. I scored an amazing hand knit pair at a second hand store two years ago and they’re my favorite winter wool socks.

I've tried the Azure bittersweet choc chips and I love them!! And thank you for the reminder that I need to get some dry milk (whole fat of course). I'm doing an experiment which wasn't started as an experiment. I had put some watermelon rind in a gallon jar to ferment for a fizzy drink. Well, I forgot about it. So it's been sitting on the counter for probably close to 2 months with a plastic cover on it. I haven't opened it yet...but plan to soon. I may have some watermelon rind alcohol! Now if it's vinegar, that would be interesting since it's sealed. What a fantastic idea to use the mylar bagged food for padding!! And another reminder from you - I need to make that peanut butter granola. BTW - if you haven't tried the Azure peanut butter, you should. Not only do you get great peanut butter, but also nice pint jars!! Absolutely love this community!! Thank you Heidi and company for all you do!! God bless!!

You may think those sox are an okay price but $16.00 a pair IF you buy the 8-pack which is $128.00 but there is no way I can justify spending that much money on sox. About 10 years ago I bot 3 packs of Gold Toe sox at JCPenney's and I am still wearing them. No holes. Not stretched out. They are starting to get a little thin at back of the heel. I wear leather lace-up walkers and sox almost every day. I will admit I am not hard on clothes. I am not a couch potato either. I have a fair sized garden and I kept Nubian milk goats till a few years ago. You are so frugal in most things, and I really admire how you economize and share thos 17:07 tips with us. I guess everything is "relative". If I bot those sox they would have to be able to sweep and mop, too. 😊 Maybe even wash dishes.
@RainCountryHomesteadАй бұрын
What one needs consider (and I failed to remember to say in this video) is the amount of TIME the socks last. That is what I take into account when I do the math. A pair of socks that is only a few dollars but only lasts 3-6 months can be just as expensive as a $16 pair that lasts several years. And I most certainly am quite hard on my socks.
@kleineroteHexАй бұрын
Sign me up for socks that do side jobs!!!!😅 Actually, mine get used to dust, the hubby's get used to mop, they are much bigger and once stretched out and shoddy, no holes, just worn, they fit on my mop. He only likes the white kind...... Even my $1/pair last me 2 to 3 years, only wear them 4 months out of 12, but walk in stocking feet around the house if bare feet is too cold. I will stick with the low cost and my own knit ones😊

I don't understand how people are going through socks so quickly. We are "hard" on our socks yet even cheap ones last YEARS for us. We prefer better quality ones because they feel nicer but longevity isn't an issue. How odd that so many people claim their socks don't last. Truly puzzling to me.
