I think eurovison is way more fun now than in the 50s-60s. We don't want a singing competition, we want glitter, ethno and chaos.

The guy with the song about his mom. It is called "you let me walk alone" and it wasnt about his mom, but it actually was about his father who died and let them alone with their mom. Its about how he misses him and how he will always remember him. Its a super emotional song. Makes me cry every time. And its one of my favorite eurovision songs and my favourite german entry ever. If you could react to it, I would love that :)

When it comes to Benjamin Ingrosso he wasn't that liked by ESC fans if I remember correctly but the thing is: this isn't The Voice. There are still a lot of great singers competing but if the song isn't right - it doesn't matter. The best ESC entries should have a full package: song, vocals and visuals.
@esthermonme48562 жыл бұрын
I actually liked benjamins performance... I wasnt a huge fan of the song, but the visuals at the stage and the performance made it better. Also I think its unfair to judge benjamins performance based on Abbas performance... Like... you can like more the old staff, but then you should ask yourself. Is abba better than other more recent pop stars, like justin bieber for example? For me, no. That doesnt make him bad. And I actually compare justin with benjamin because I found them quite similar when I watch benjamin that year. So... I dont know if I explained myself cause english is not my forst language. But what I mean is one cant judge artists from different periods and determine if they are good or bad, comparing them without taking the context into account... If waterloo was realished today, it wont have the same impact... It is iconic because what it represented in that moment, with the context of the music of that moment. And now we analise it with that context and still like it, with the nostagic factor also playing into it. Do we really think it would be a huge hit if they wrote it today? Surely not. We would thing it is outdated. But thats why we shouldnt compare the old ones with the new ones. They both can be good in their context.

I think you have overestimated the danger a black person could face in Europe... Like, if I had to think of the 5 most dangerous places (and probably the only ones) that there could be a 20% chance of you getting harassed or whatever, I'd say Moldova, Bulgaria, Turkey, I think Azerbaijan too, France under certain circumstances and Austria. In today's age, almost every other country in EUROPE is safe for you, that's for certain

@@johnf8067 Well as someone who lives in France I get that as in many countries there may be a few no go areas where no tourist is ever likely to go in any case, but I still don't understand what you mean by protests. No tourist is ever at risk from that, much more likely to be pickpocketed in the metro or scammed by someone selling fake Louis Vuitton bags then getting caught in a protest march. France is after all the country in the world which receives more tourists than any other

Eurovision has evolved a lot since the 50s and 60s though. It's the whole performance rather than just the voice

In 2020 Eurovision was cancelled, Italy often gives us quality songs cause they select their songs by Sanremo Music Festival, tbh sometimes I feel like I enjoy watching Sanremo more than ESC (I'm not Italian). even tho it's not for everybody

Please react to countries in Eurovision! Some suggestions would be: Ireland and Sweden (most wins and second most wins), Luxembourg (great vocalists, I think you'd enjoy them) Greece (very fun and interesting songs with sometimes deep history behind them, good vocalists too) and Israel (one of my fav countries, almost every year singing in their native tongue, good vocalists and some of their songs are all time greats)

I think our European society has changed since the golden years. It is more complicated. Some prefer glitter and dancing over musical skills and Others prefer pure music powerhouses. Each year voting shifts. we had some great ballads this decade as well.

When it comes to racism, at least most of western and northern Europe should be more chill than America so I would not worry about traveling here. It's similar to US though, people can be less tolerant in smaller rural towns that never get visited, but even then they would probably keep their mouth shut. Finding people who actually care enough to be an asshole about it is incredibly rare.

The Iron Curtain was a deadly, almost impassable border that divided Western European countries and Eastern European countries in 2 halves (the Berlin Wall was also part of the Iron Curtain). Europe was divided into 2 parts for almost 50 years. This division arose when the Soviet Union (Russia's communist empire, founded in 1917/1922) brought its tanks to Berlin in World War II to defeat Nazi Germany. On the way to Berlin, the Soviet Union annexed + occupied the Eastern European countries and introduced "Soviet Communism" in the countries. In addition, in 1939, shortly before the start of World War II, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union had agreed in the Hitler-Stalin Pact to divide Eastern Europe between themselves. While 🇪🇪 Estonia, 🇱🇻 Latvia, 🇱🇹 Lithuania and 🇲🇩 Moldova were annexed by the Soviet Union and incorporated as Soviet provinces into the Soviet Empire, Czechoslovakia, 🇵🇱 Poland, 🇧🇬 Bulgaria, 🇷🇴 Romania, 🇭🇺 Hungary and the German Democratic Republic (GDR/East Germany) became communist doll states of the Soviet Union (called Warsaw Pact). 🇺🇦 Ukraine, 🇧🇾 Belarus, 🇬🇪 Georgia, 🇦🇲 Armenia, 🇦🇿 Azerbaijan and the Central Asian countries (🇰🇿 Kazakhstan, 🇰🇬 Kyrgyzstan, 🇹🇯 Tajikistan, 🇺🇿 Uzbekistan, 🇹🇲 Turkmenistan) have already been 1917 - 1920 (approx.) annexed by the Soviet Union. At the end of the 1980s, the Soviet Union fall apart + the communist puppet dictatorships were overthrown in the other Eastern European countries. Furthermore, there were two other communist/socialist states, the also communist 🇦🇱 Albania and Yugoslavia, which were not doll states of the Soviet Union. Yugoslavia was founded as a socialist state by Josip Broz Tito at the end of WW2 after he and his partisans liberated the entire territory of Yugoslavia (Yugoslavia was a kingdom before WW2) from the Nazi occupiers in a guerrilla war. Tito became the leader/dictator of the state and broke ties with the Soviet Union in the 1950s, establishing Titoism, a particular path between capitalism and socialism. Tito was probably one of the most popular dictators in history, who held together the many different ethnic groups within Yugoslavia with his steel strength alone. Tito finally died in 1980 and 10 years later Yugoslavia was engulfed in a series of bloody civil wars in which all ethnic groups fought for independence, eventually breaking Yugoslavia apart. Furthermore, Czechoslovakia split into 🇨🇿 Czech Republic and 🇸🇰 Slovakia. 24 new countries emerged from the collapse of the Eastern Bloc (Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia): 🇪🇪 Estonia, 🇱🇻 Latvia, 🇱🇹 Lithuania, 🇧🇾(⬜🟥⬜) Belarus, 🇺🇦 Ukraine, 🇲🇩 Moldova, 🇬🇪 Georgia 🇦🇲 Armenia, 🇦🇿 Azerbaijan, 🇰🇿 Kazakhstan, 🇺🇿 Uzbekistan, 🇹🇯 Tajikistan, 🇰🇬 Kyrgyzstan, 🇹🇲 Turkmenistan, 🇸🇮 Slovenia, 🇭🇷 Croatia, 🇧🇦 Bosnia and Herzegovina, 🇷🇸 Serbia, 🇲🇪 Montenegro, 🇲🇰 North Macedonia (Macedonia), 🇽🇰 Kosovo, 🇨🇿 Czech Republic, 🇸🇰 Slovakia and 🇷🇺 Russia. Also, 🇵🇱 Poland, Czechoslovakia (🇨🇿 Czech Republic, 🇸🇰 Slovakia), 🇭🇺 Hungary, 🇧🇬 Bulgaria, 🇷🇴 Romania and 🇦🇱 Albania became democratic states again + West Germany and East Germany were reunited to form 🇩🇪 Germany. Today there are only 2 dictatorships left in Europe, namely 🇧🇾 Belarus (dictator Aleksander Lukashenko) and 🇷🇺 Russia (dictator Vladimir Putin). 🇦🇿 Azerbaijan, 🇰🇿 Kazakhstan, 🇺🇿 Uzbekistan, 🇹🇯 Tajikistan and 🇹🇲 Turkmenistan are also dictatorships, while 🇰🇬 Kyrgyzstan, 🇬🇪 Georgia and 🇦🇲 Armenia are democracies. 🇭🇺 Hungary and 🇷🇸 Serbia are half-democratic/half-autocratic.
