Great list from you guys. I’m with Vanessa, I love 1974. It is also the year of the most important album ever for me, Meet the Resident by The Residents. As much as The Beatles were my gateway into the pop and rock world, Residents expanded my musical horizons and really opened my ears, as well as challenged me on what can be considered music. Definitely not an accessible album at all, but it cemented my passion for music and after all these years, it never gets old. Only have heard 25 albums for the year and still have may heavy hitters left but have 15+ albums that I would say are great.

I am glad I made my list before watching, but it did mean I missed a couple of my favorites, thankfully you guys caught them. It was curious to hear 2/3 of you not excited about 1974 and Tom's especially since I thought his list was full of classics. I guess albums you liked rather than loved. Nice pointer to Sweet Exorcist. I will have to check that out. For me, there is a lot to love about 1974 and I had to cut out some real favorites, No room in my top 10 for I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight, Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy, Veedon Fleece, Winter In America, Propaganda, Pretzel Logic, Natty Dread. Or some all-time great live albums; Its Too Late To Stop Now, 1969:The Velvet Underground Live, Miles Of Aisles. 1974; Joni Mitchell - Court & Spark Gram Parsons - Grievous Angel Nothing to add to Vanessa's notes, except I agree. Sparks - Kimono My House Almost deserves its spot for one of the great album titles alone. It was disconcerting to hear them referred to as glam, (which obviously fits, it is just they have moved so far from glam that it is jarring) or comparisons to Queen. Sparks are all wit and lightness, when I think of Queen I think of bombast and over-reaching. Gene Clark - No Other Kraftwerk - Autobahn You are here for that 22-minute title track. As sampled and imitated as it might be now it still sounds fresh and revolutionary. Big Star - Radio City Not #1 Record, but still full of could-have-been pop hits. Neil Young - On The Beach For so many years this was an out of print hard to find album. It certainly built the mystique. When it finally reappeared it was the dark masterpiece we had hoped. Brian Eno - Here Come The Warm Jets Randy Newman - Good Old Boys I am surprised there is no love for Randy on the channel. This particular album can be a challenging listen as Randy inhabits some pretty loathsome characters, often eliciting some weird sympathy for them, even as you despise their worldview. Louisiana 1927 is one of the great songs of any era and has found new relevance as we live through more and more weather-related disasters. Its sentiment belongs to Maui 2023 as much as 1927. Can - Soon Over Babaluma Can in decline according to many, Damo Suzuki was gone and the album has an indiscernible lightness. This is a bridge album between the early masterpieces and the upcoming Virgin era. This album is one of their most enjoyable listens. I enjoyed all three of your lists. And good luck growing the channel, I hope you find your audience. I love what you are doing.

re: #5 - Funny thing is that I am not a fan at all of 70's Genesis, and I truly dislike the second record for LLDOB, but I can not argue just how great the first record is, which is enough to push it into my top five. I just choose to consider it a single album with the second record containing the outtakes. LOL

Tom: Crime of the Century my beloved, I didn't get around to Burn but I should've, On The Beach such a grower like you said, it's finally a 5 and I can't get enough of it. Chris: so based for having Apostrophe, LOVED that album and can't wait to listen to it again, so happy to see another mention of Crime of the Century, Kimono my House such a worthy winner, each song a banger, easy 5 stars. Vanessa: Thank god for Vanessa and standing up for the year, and the Red pick, I actually loved Fulfillingness even more this time and if I had listened more it could've easily been in my top 5 so could be the timing who knows, finally No Other is an awesome winner, really need to hear it again as I loved it each time, There you have it, three based winners

1 Country Life - Roxy Music Out of the Blue/Thrill of it all/ All I Want is you/ 3 great songs. 2 On the Beach Neil Young. Not an album I love but Walk On and For the Turnstiles are great. See the sky about to fall and On the Beach are good. 3 Steely Dan - Pretzel Logic Not one of their better albums. Best are Rikki/Any Major Dude 4 Eldorado - ELO 5 I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight - Richard and Linda Thompson 6 Big Star - Radio City September Gurls is the best. 7 Late For The Sky - Jackson Browne. Fountain of Sorrow - Can't listen to this song - somewhat cloying and pompous song disguised as a fist into Daryl Hannah's skull. This is reprehensible for me to write. 8 Randy Newman - Good Old Boys - Louisiania 1927 is beautiful. 9 Van Morrison - Veedon Fleece 10 The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway - Genesis 11 No Other - Gene Clark No Other is great. 12 Supertramp - Crime of the Century Worst song is Bloody Well Right. 13 Diamond Dogs by Bowie 14 Sparks - Kimono My House
