I recently read _Last Night at the Telegraph Club_ by Malinda Lo. It was a book set during the 1950s, when the Red Scare blossomed and the LGBTQ+ community continued to be harassed by society. The book centers around Lily Hu and her journey of finding herself and figuring out her sexuality(she's a lesbian.) It's also about her becoming more comfortable with who she is as a lesbian AND a Chinese American in America. She meets a character named Kathleen "Kath" Miller. To sum it up, they go to the Telegraph Club together. The Telegraph Club is basically a lesbian club/bar thing and there is a male impersonator there who sings and.. basically enchants every woman there 🤩. She's named Tommy Andrews. Every time Lily and Kath would go to the Telegraph Club, I'd open up this song by Lana because it really fit with the whole vibe of the club. Not necassarily the lyrics, but the beat. Along the way, I developed a serious crush on Tommy Andrews. She's so alluring.. 😩. What I'm trying to get at is that now.. when I listen to this song, I can't help but think about Tommy Andrews and the club altogether. I often fantasize what it would be like to be Tommy's girlfriend. Also a cool little fact is that Tommy Andrews is slightly inspired by an actual person. Her name was Tommy Vasu and she owned numerous lesbian bars around San Francisco in the early 50s, and let me tell you... wow... she is so attractive 😓.. Overall, I just adore this song slowed and I love the Telegraph Club and wish it existed hahaha. Sorry for this entire paragraph based around me adoring this song and drooling over a fictional.. well partially _?_ fictional character.
