Andrew’s book about the Duke of Windsor is a fascinating read. As a girl I grilled my grandmother about her life growing up and the war. Many people loved him, she cried when he abdicated. If she new his true nature it would have been shocking to a person of her generation.

Brits value loyalty . Ins world where we see leaders and royals fleeting their isn countries in times of war we have a collective memory of our royals staying in England and walking through the bombed out streets of London. We remember our queen once did as much as she was allowed to do to help in our collective war effort . We remember and we loved her and them for that. We remember they even changed their ancestral name to be more British as a means of affiliation to us and this small rock . We know they only eat fancy food at state vanguard and that Heinz had the royal seal because the queen and her sister ate Heinz beans . We love them because till Charles they had not moralised and because they held firm to the Church of England and thus the Christian laws upon which our constitution rests . We love them because they cane back out if their big houses inside which they once hid from us , we live them because we know they feel are are British through and through no matter what and they’ve demonstrated that the country and the rules have been put before thryr own personal feelings. We love them because they take it and us seriously . That’s why we stopped loving Harry . The fine of Windsor is still part of their family but they have removed him from the monarchy . Their private family matters are private, the monarchy is public .

I agree. I don't want to know private matters of the Royal Family, just as I don't intend to share my private matters with anyone else. If these matters affect the reign of the Monarch and the Nation, as you say, that is a different issue.
