As a note, there are parts of the run that may seem choppy. The reason for this is that the timer for the wing boots (and other timed items) decreases every 64th frame, but only if the game is not in dialogue, in menu, in screen transition, or paused. As such, pausing for this critical frame is used intentionally to keep wing boots much longer than intended, and makes the video look choppy in these sections as a result.

Even as a kid, I thought it was weird that a couple of the water spring dudes are like: Oh hey, you made it! Sure, I'll revive the spring. What was stopping me from doing this before? Oh, nothing.

How do you keep wingboots timer from going down?

The wingboots, as well as all other timed items, work on a specific timer. Every second on this timer on a specific countdown frame, any of these items (wingboots, glove, hourglass, ointment) will decrease as long as the game isn't paused, in a menu, in a dialogue, or in a door transition. However, the timer continues to run even while these events are happening. In order to extend the boots, the game is paused on this countdown frame so it doesn't decrease. By doing this repeatedly, quickly, and with good rhythm, the game can be stopped for a few frames to avoid decreasing the timer, then unpaused to continue playing between these seconds.

@@bogledowdee955 and apparently this timer DECREASES the higher ranked you are. So the less you visit the church the better your timer will be. This game was really buggy.
