I like how Kirsty is mindful with the electric file. I actually stopped getting my nails done for a really long time bc nail techs kept burning my nailbeds. It would get so hot. The last starw was when I was getting an infill and it burnt so bad I instinctively pulled my hand away. I told her she burnt me, she didn't even say sorry. As a matter of fact, she did it again. I got up, nails completely unfinished, and walked out. Needless to say, I don't get my nails done as much as I used to. And I LOVE nails.

Faye's nails are, to be sure, *extreme.* Nails that long are hard to wear, even for those who are used to wearing very long nails. The thing is, that as they grow out it just becomes normal. Everyone always asks about toilet paper and it's easy to understand why. People with extremely long nails don't hold the tissue with the tips of their fingers. Long nail wearers hold the folded stack of paper pinched between their index and second fingers, between the base of their fingers and the first joint, with the fingers arched back and paper covering the entire fingertip and nail, and wipe. Yes, sometimes mistakes are made. But that's what warm water, soap and nail brushes are for. One thing almost nobody ever thinks about is how hard it is to do everyday things _without_ long nails, once one is used to wearing them. The finger tips get incredibly sensitive after not touching anything for years except a nail brush when they wash their hands. It's a lot like walking around outside with bare feet for the first time every spring.
