The presumption that all those Congress and AAP voters would have voted for each other if they were united, is unproven. Some of those people might have chosen the BJP if their party wasn't contesting. The bigger issue with INDIA block is that they don't have a leader. It is essentially an attempt to replicate V P Singh's success against Rajiv Gandhi. However, in that case they had an actual leader (V P Singh) behind whom even the BJP and CPM united. INDIA block is basically a hodge-podge group of family businesses and dynasties masquerading as political parties, with no ideology or plan whatsoever.

He said he would never live in the CM's house. People had high expectations from him and his party. Which is why people care so much about the cost of the CM house because it puts a large gap between his claims and his actions.

If anything, it’s the Congress that should have let AAP take the lead. None of this, however, changes the fact that anti-incumbency came to bite AAP, the last five years have seen the party do very little in Delhi. Yes, some of it is because of their top rung being thrown into prison but a lot of that is also because they just didn’t perform unlike their first term. And I’m saying this as someone who has a lot of respect for AAP.

There are multiple reasons for their defeat, mainly, they forgot the fact unitedly we stand and divided we fall as their party symbol conveys. They forgot that they were under surveillance. Their motormouths and lose language became a snare to their own feet, many times they had to apologize that brought down their credibility. They were over ambitious, selfish and non cooperative with other parties. The main two things brought down their credibility and peoples sympathy - the liquor policy and sheeshmahal.
