I have had over the years since E bikes have been in existence, 9 E bikes of all different types, Front Hub motors, rear Hub motors, motors in the bottom bracket, motors attached to the bottom bracket, also batteries located on rear racks, on the down tube, on the seat tube and at the rear of it. I have had all different brands of motor and battery such as Bafang, Toshiba, Bosch, Impulse, Shimano along with batteries from all the main manufacturers, In the last 20 years I have had 52 bikes in total and the only E bike that I can say I feel completely at home on is my new Focus Paralane 9.9 with the Fazua drive. Anyone who buys an E bike thinking that it is going to be a motor bike instead of a bicycle is misguided. The idea is to have a bicycle for exercise and to have enough extra power for assistance when required, people who complain about not enough power or range are concentrating on the wrong things. My Fazua unit has only 250Wh and 60Nm but on regular rides that takes me 120km. My Focus Paralane 9.9 E bike weighs just 12.5kg the best power to weight ratio bike on the market. It is the best system on the market.

Mr Lukes - I have just bought a Pinarello Nytro Feb 2022 which uses the new fazua Ride 50 battery. Would an older fazua battery work as a spare on this new bike? Would the bike computer bit recognise the old fazua system ? no one dares say !!

I had the Fazua Evation system on my bike for 3 years. Loved it! However, I left my bike out one night and there was a heavy downpour. Next day, the system would not turn on. Ran the diagnostics and sent in to Fazua. They said, your battery is ruined. I was mad that they would not replace it (it was a year out of warranty), and they only said, it's got some rating for moisture exposure whose number I can't remember and that should not have happened. Well, it did happen! I'm sorely disappointed. And this happened when my bike was upright, not moving. What would have happened had I been riding in equally drenched conditions!?

Got to be your best review. It should be explained that very high end free hubs normally make a lot of noise like that because of greater pawl engagement. I sure wish more companies would build with power to weight in mind. I'd also like to see more support for the idea of back-up batteries. People could swap batteries for most of their daily rides, extending battery life. Then they could Carry or connect the extra capacity on the rare occasion they need it. It's just more efficient in every way.

Looks like you could pull the system partially out of the down tube and then pull the battery out and stick the rest right back in to charge it. Still a bit more work but better than risking damaging the motor if it should fall off a table or something. Waiting to receive my discontinued Bulls Wildflow with this system from my local dealer now.

Where is the USB C port located? to update the software
@jnathanj8838 ай бұрын
There's a port under a weather cover-cap, in the 'drive-pack' tube. It's not USB-C, maybe even USB "Mini". Haven't gone there recently; once I got my power profiles done for the three levels, I have left it sealed, and, per my Local bike shop advice, haven't tried to update any core profiles, in the mode of "Ain't broke? Don't futz with it."

We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. kzbin.infoUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

Of all the names you could pick for a new motor, *Fazua is a crummy name*. IMHO, Bosch has been beaten yet for its complete trouble-free design and power it makes.
@MHH31803 жыл бұрын
Got to disagree. Constant dealer only upgrades and complaints across all boards about service suggest they are being introduced without enough research. Not as bad as Shimano, but still...

@@MHH3180 Court's frequent guest, Sam (owned electric bicycle center) said he had fewest returns on Bosch - they didn't break. Last thing I want to deal with is taking an ebike to shop or electrical breaking on the road requiring unexpectedly lugging a 60lb dead ebike home
@MHH31803 жыл бұрын
@forbinColosus Sam sold factory bikes mostly with integrated motors. Of those, you had, at the time, ouch, Brose, Shimano and Daddo (sp). Almost no one uses Daddo under their name. Brose was new and comparing Shimano to Bosch is like comparing criminals; which is worse? You have to haul that absurdly overweight 60# bike to the dealer for software updates. All these have cutting edge tech, but they should introduce them after the bugs are worked out, perhaps in racing. I am no longer a fan of Bafang and their high wattage units, but their legendary reliability, going back to their kit roots, is why they remain #1. I do not mean to demonize Shimano or Bosch, but I tire of the unearned and unending, probably race based, praise as if they aren't having serious issues. I believe, in time, Bosch will be The Campagnolo of motors and Shimano, well the Shimano. They just aren't there yet.
@MHH31803 жыл бұрын
@@ForbinColossus Dapu has a better reputation. Bafang as well, though admittedly not as technically advanced. He cannot repair his Bosch motors. They have to be sent in for service. Last thing I want is to wait six weeks for a repair or replacement.
@jnathanj8838 ай бұрын
Bosch and Brose I think have refined tech originally meant for EPAS (electric power assist steering, automotive stuff) to make their bike e-motors. Fazua (wherever the name came from) started in 2014 as a cycle-centric concept: What if? What if we made an e-bike you can rip most of the "e" out of? It's a concept they've backed away from, realizing most folks who want/need a motor won't care about ever ditching the assist system and weight. The biggest efficiency loss in the early Fazua system is the crankset transmission. Every turn in a power path reduces efficiency. I imagine the Ride 60 has a straighter power path.

Having more than one battery is always great, But only worth it if you intend to use the second one often because it's going to degrade as soon as it's activated in your possession and it'll be a waste of a pricey piece of tech if it spends a lot of time stored away.

Having to remove the battery every time to charge is really frustrating. Why not a charging port on the side? Getting the drive unit out is very hard. It's very heavy. You can chop your fingers in teh process. I cut my fingers several times. putting it back on is even harder. Also you need the key to take the battery out so you can charge. Also I have a clicking sound while charging. You can plug in for days and still not finish charging as the light indicates. Software update and diagnostics is even harder. I am disappointed with Fazua. Don't buy this
