Pep's Barca was truly a masterpeice. I know most people say the 2010/11 Barca team was the best club team of all time and rightly so. However, I feel the 2011/12 Barca in Pep's final season had morphed into something bigger. They really perfected their football in that season. The first half of the 2011/12 season, Barca played unbelievable football and Guardiola used the 3-4-3 and 3-3-4 formation as his final piece to the puzzle. Although they did not win la liga and champions league that season, I really think that they had reached the pinnacle of their football. The game against santos in the fifa club world cup final showed us how Guardiola thought football should be played. No strikers or wingers but midfielders and defenders.

You right, sometimes I feel the 2011-12 team is underrated, just because they didn't win anything... but that semifinal against chelsea was one of the unluckiest moment in Barcelona history for sure... that team deserved another UCL that year.

The only reason that this amazing barca team lost the title that year was due to the best real madrid in history that year, at least in terms of statistics. Plus we played amazing and very atttacking football in the champions league that year as well. Unfortunately that fucking second half against chelsea quite ruined that season.

Valdés, Pinto, Alves, Piqué, Puyol, Bartra, Abidal, Adriano, Mascherano, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Thiago, Messi, Pedro, Villa, Alexus, Cuenca, Tello...qué maravilla de equipo. Qué manera de jugar al fútbol! Para mí, aunque ganara menos títulos que otros años, esta 2011-2012 y la 2012-2013 con Vilanova fueron las mejores temporadas del Barça en cuanto a juego, por encima incluso del año del triplete.

Con Guardiola el barca explotó a lo máximo el tiki taka, porque después con Vilanova si bien se intento lo mismo ya se empezó con los excesivos pases intrascendents lentos, que no podían penetrar las defensas rivales de 10 jugadores.

El juego de este barca era un espectáculo, esa secuencia de pases esa capacidad de filtrar los pases entre defensas que en la mayoría de los casos eran de 10; sin contar el control el dominio que tenían del balón durante el 90 por ciento de los partidos, a pesar de los intentos de presionar su salida del balón, pero tarde o temprano el barca terminaba teniendo el dominio absoluto del juego. Ni que decir de la presión asfixiante sobre el rival, durante gran parte del partido. La obligación de todos los jugadores de buscar recuperar el balón. Aunque pienso que la lesión de Villa perjudicó en gran medida al ataque del barca, viendo que si bien Messi tuvo números monstruosos, en los partidos trascendentales por la liga y la champions messi no marcó, por lo que si él no lo hacía nadie más; en cambio con villa si se tenía otro referente en ataque que si sabia meter goles en partidos importantes, hecho que quedo demostrado en la temporada 2010/11, en la que el barca lo gano casi todo.

La idea de juego la trajo Cruyff. Pero no importa que venga otro entrenador que tenga bien asumido este estilo (como Guardiola y Xavi). Es muy importante que las piezas encajen. Encajaron en el Barça de Cruyff, encajaron en el de Rikjaard, encajaron en el de Guardiola... De nada sirve si las piezas no encajan. Guardiola lo dijo miles de veces en prensa cuando le insinuaban ser el mejor entrenador actual "De verdad, que no soy yo! Que son ellos! Os lo digo una y otra vez y no haceis caso. Que son ellos! Injuries and illness are the only reason this team didn't win everything again that season. With Villa no way they don't score more vs Chelsea, and with Abidal they would have kept things tighter in those crunch games towards the end of the season that cost the league.

Who cares whether they won lots of trophies or not at the time?? This video is about possession football and Barcelona's football possession in 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 wasn't far from what we saw in peps era.
