Uakti - Full Concert (Rome - 2011)

Uakti (WAHK-chee) is a Brazilian instrumental musical group that is composed of Marco Antônio Guimarães, Artur Andrés Ribeiro, Paulo Sérgio Santos, and Décio Ramos. Uakti is known for using custom-made instruments, built by the group itself.
The name of the group comes from a Tucano native South American legend. Uakti was a mythological being who lived on the banks of the Rio Negro. His body was full of holes, which, when the wind passed through them, produced sounds that bewitched the women of the tribe. The men hunted down Uakti and killed him. Palm trees sprouted up in the place where his body was buried, and the people used these to make flutes that made enchanting sounds like those produced by the body of Uakti.
O Uakti é um grupo brasileiro de música instrumental, formado por Marco Antônio Guimarães, Artur Andrés Ribeiro, Paulo Sérgio Santos e Décio Ramos . O Uakti é conhecido por utilizar instrumentos musicais não convencionais, construídos pelo próprio grupo.
O nome do grupo se origina de uma lenda dos índios Tukano. Uakti era um ser mitológico que vivia às margens do Rio Negro. Seu corpo era repleto de furos que ao serem atravessados pelo vento emitiam sons que encantavam as mulheres da tribo. Os homens perseguiram Uakti e o mataram. No local onde seus restos foram enterrados nasceram palmeiras que os índios usaram para fazer flautas de som encantador como os produzidos pelo corpo de Uakti . Embora não acentuado, o nome é pronunciado com a sílaba tônica em ti.

A person really needs more than the usual life-span to be able to see and experience all the transporting music and other arts that we have filled with creativity and wonder. More than a single life to even see the great cornucopia. Ernest Becker (Maybe it was in The Denial Of Death) once wrote that at one time it was possible for a single person to know all that our species had produced. Of course, that is not not possible, let alone conceivable. It just keeps expanding. like all the notes produced in this single piece of music.
