With his colorful orchestrations, Dvorak sounds like a precursor of Rimsky-Korsakov to me, but I believe he had the added gift that's the hallmark of the very best composers, being able to write great melodies that make the music flow with seemingly effortless ease and beauty. In my view, Dvorak is a vastly underrated composer, I have not heard a work of his that I didn't like, and this is no exception, I'm happy to have stumbled upon it and stopped to listen. Thank you for the upload.

Did you ever heard his Op.81 Piano Quintet? The whole piece is majestic, but the second movement... is just dreamlike of so beautyfull! I also recommend his Op.33 Piano Concerto!

Écouter cette musique est comprendre que le matérialisme est une folie ... Écoutez comme la magie, la beauté et la tragédie ont des voix subtiles et apaisantes..

This is a gorgeous piece. I especially love the part starting from 1:54. They are some kind of wood winds though I'm not exactly sure what they are -perhaps clarinets?

it is actually the English horn.

The English horn was one of Dvorak's favorite instruments. Of course, his famous "Going Home" theme in the 9th Symphony is played by the English horn. I believe that no one, save Mozart, could write as well for woodwinds as Dvorak.

Look up the folk tale behind this. It's quite gruesome. Nevertheless, Dvorák chooses to take a happier ending.

@@slowmercy69 It's a poem 'Zlatý kolovrat' ('Golden spinning wheel') from a collection of ballads 'Kytice' ('The Bouquet') by Karel Jaromír Erben. The story goes as follows: The king meets a beautiful young woman, Dora, in the woods, and proposes to marry her. But this doesn't please her stepmother and stepsister, who murder her on the way to his castle: they cut her arms and legs, and pluck out her eyes. The stepsister then impersonates Dora and marries the king, who then leaves to a war. A magician finds Dora's body; he then sends his son to the castle, giving him a golden spinning wheel and telling him to exchange it for the missing body parts. When the king returns, the spinning wheel reveals their treachery; the king finds Dora, alive and well (the magician has brought her back to life). And the two villainesses? They meet their fate: as they have done to Dora, so was done to them.
