The WWII code-breakers of Bletchley Park are heroes to me (especially Alan Turing). As to Sir Max Hastings' critique of Apple in its fight against the FBI, allow me to show the view is naive/misguided by quoting former national security official Richard Clarke in a March 2016 NPR interview. (with emphasis added) ==== CLARKE: [...] If I were in the job now, I would have simply told the FBI to call Fort Meade, the headquarters of the National Security Agency, and NSA would have solved this problem for them. To me, Sir Max's comparison of the work done by the WWII code-breakers of Bletchley Park to the current global/total surveillance is an insult to the memories and work of the code-breakers like Alan Turing! Bletchley Park dealt with enemy communications during war time. NSA mass surveillance include everyone in the world including American citizens in US without real oversight (not a rubber stamp FISA Court) .
