Ik zat net hetzelfde te denken, toen ik jouw commentaar las. Wat hij bijvoorbeeld deed met het traditionele "La Bamba" op de album "Trumpet a Gogo" (1966), is een mooi voorbeeld. Er zijn er nog meer, natuurlijk. Ik ben 68 en was als jongeman al fan van James (Hansi). Groeten uit België. Dasselbe habe ich mir auch gedacht, als ich deinen Kommentar gelesen habe. Was er zum Beispiel mit dem traditionellen „La Bamba“ auf dem Album „Trumpet a Gogo“ (1966) gemacht hat, ist ein gutes Beispiel. Es gibt natürlich noch einige mehr. Allá por los 80s, trabajaba en un Banco y disfrutaba mucho de esta música y siempre compraba unos 2 acetatos cada semana, razón por lo cual logre coleccionar una gran cantidad de esta música. Many, many years ago, when I was first married in Hamburg, Germany, we lived in a flat where the bedroom was facing the courtyard in the back. In the same block was a dance school for ballroom dancing and this kind of music was standard in that school. On summer evenings the tall glass doors of the school were open to the courtyard and when our bedroom window was also open I always heard melodies just like these. How wonderful to be able to hear the old recordings. I listen to them every few days, can never get enough of that sound!

He was responsible for building some of the old Civic buildings in the city of Buffalo. His wife was from England. On my mother side the family immigrated from Switzerland. Their name was Morf. He was born in the German part of Switzerland. She grew up in an orphanage in the French part of Switzerland. They met in Elmira, New York. He fell in love with her as he observed her yodeling while working in the fields. Eventually everyone settled in the Buffalo area of western New York. My father died of a heart attack when I was 17 years old. My mother, sister and I then moves to California.
