Brooklyn 4 Alarm Fire Box 3780 413 East 3rd St. Fire in a 2 story private dwelling with extension to exposure 2 and 2A

Another superb failure. Don’t hit the obvious spreading external fire. Concentrate on the internal fire whilst the external fire spreads around and bypasses the internal fire fight. Rinse and repeat for next exposure.

Those buildings are so close it leads to disaster quickly. I wonder why the spaces between the buildings was not protected first? Were the spaces too thin to reach the back where a lot of visible flames were spreading? Were there things in the way to prevent access to an engine? Was sufficient water access available? I see further into the video that passing a line into the back was very difficult to do. What a difficult mess for the personnel.

Great video as is the norm from NYRRT. A small piece of advice to those critical of the efforts to extinguish this fire. UNLESS you are a firefighter with years of experience, please keep your criticisms of the FDNY to yourself. Watching fire videos and having no relevant training and/or experience does not qualify you to pass judgment on the FDNY. BTW, Brooklyn is 1 of the most different & challenging locations in the country to fight fires. Houses too close together, streets packed with cars, etc A lot of houses built extensively with wood. You name it, Brooklyn's got it. If you think you can do a better job, become a firefighter then rise in rank to command a Battalion. THEN & only then will your comments carry weight.

The members were confronted with numerous problems with this particular incident. Balloon construction, space separation of the structures, high winds, and a water supply problem on initial arrival. Having a rescue to attend to slowed the initial attack. I don’t usually comment on fire operations but I do have to at this point. To me it appears that the Batt chief had tunnel vision and lost sight of the big picture.🇺🇸🚒🐄

Why didnt they put a line on the exp 2 side. The same thing happened in Milwaukee a couple years ago. 4 houses totally lost. A woman and her baby died. Cities should NEVER had been permitted to build wpoden houses 3 feet apart. Recipe for disaster. The Milwaukee fire was caused by a grill on a rear wooden porch.

The FDNY is notorious for ignoring Visible Burning Material to "Go Inside" to get Off while Playing the Hero. In most FDNY KZbin video you will see them go inside to only be driven out by the fire they walked by outside which has now gotten so big, they can't survive inside. How do you think the victims are managing in their street or night cloths? Do you see that fire at 3:00? Why is no one out there eliminating it by this time? The camera person was able to get there after spending a lot of time out front. They let the flames go out the alley windows and attack the house next door, and now, it's heading to the third house all because they are trying to extinguish this from the inside. Your heroes in action. The guys that, "Go inside rather than fighting the fire from the outside." Outside where they actually have a clear and safe access to the burning rooms through those windows. What they SHOULD have done from the beginning, they reluctantly did at the end. 7:20 What does he think he is going to accomplish going inside that room with no hose to stop combustion? 7:40 DO YOU SEE WHAT THEY ARE DOING? They are standing there watching while they ALLOW the fire to consume the THIRD house when it should have been stopped at the first house. These are not Firefighters! If this doesn't prove it to you, I have a massive file that proves their incompetence. There is NO REASON to LET that fire damage the third house and yet they do. Why isn't water still being pumped through the attic window? 8:20 Does this not look insane to you? Not one person there, cares. Putting water in the alley at the end when it should have happened from the front at the beginning with an assault to the rear.

Well that didn't go well!! . To not put a couple of lines in between the houses (1 line in front and 1 line in back) to protect the exposures on both sides of the fire building makes no sense. You can see how much the fire is allowed to grow. And to let the fire at the back between houses 2 and 3 is ridiculous. You don't need to be a professional firefighter for decades to see the need to protect the exposures and thus help control the spread of fire from house to house. If I were the homeowner of the third house I'd be pretty pissed off.
@bigboyhotstuff5 ай бұрын
That’s literally exactly what’s going on the rear. There was about 4 lines alone that were protecting the exposures. The only reason why a 3rd and 4th exposure wasn’t involved, was because of the exterior lines
