Here in Texas we have knock boxes on every commercial building so the fd doesn't have to cut into each building. They unlock the box and use the keys inside to simply unlock the building.

I totally respect the FDNY, but why are there always hundreds of firemen on scene with only 3 water lines. Im just curious, again I totally love and respect what they do.

BECAUSE THEY ARE THERE TO BE ROTATED TO GO TO WORK. THEY ARE VERY CAUTIOUS ON HOW MUCH TIME THE MEMBERS ARE WORKING TO PROTECT THEIR SAFETY. THANKS SO MUCH! ;o)
