Any chance you can elaborate the sound heard at around 9:20. Sounds a bit like a car alarm or a really loud chirping chime (not the PASS devices motion alert). I’ve heard it several times in your videos and it sounds like it’s from everywhere. I assume it’s an evac alarm possibly incorporated into the PASS devices? Transmitted by Field Comm if I had to guess? But not sure.

Yaesu FT-4xr is what I use for handheld. It can be had from Ham Radio Outlet for about $75 on sale right now. It covers VHF/UHF and is perfectly legal to buy and own. You just can't transmit on the amateur radio bands without a license. Obviously don't transmit on police or fire frequencies either. Good luck and be safe ! Mike

I finally found out. A taxpayer is any cheaply constructed structure that has a common roof with an open cockloft. Also a common open basement. The reason it is called a taxpayer, is just that. A rental property usually two story with apartments on the second floor. To pay the taxes on the property in hopes that the property becomes more valuable. That was the original purpose.

Looking at this building on Google Earth, it looks like a big garage or warehouse area on the second floor. Is the first floor like that too? Nebraska Sandhills refers to a one or two story building,commercial on the first floor, cheaply built by the owner of the land, so he could rent it, to pay the taxes on the land, while he waits to decide what to do with the land....hence the term "Taxpayer"....most were built well over 50,60,70 years ago.They are found throughout NYC, but Queens and the Bronx are loaded with them.

Being able to see fire behavior and suppression, as a civilian, is a unique view into what firefighters see and deal with.

It's fires like this one that are the most dangerous for firemen. They do not know what is burning inside the building, it can be bins containing lacquers / paint thinners that go up - but also propane or acetylene containers that explode and become flying missiles! One of the most dangerous jobs on earth!

Hi me again re watching 👀 videos and I was thinking of a great deterrent for people who park in front of fire hydrants put notices on the hydrant saying (Park here your vehicle will be towed and crushed ) that would stop idiots doing it lol

the "cyborg" dispatchers are usually only used on the initial call when your at the firehouse... once your out and working you get the human being

@@25mfd Yeah that I have to agree with. Although it usually depends on the department/county/city. For my county specifically they use human dispatchers for the initial toneout.
