You always bust your hump to get to the fire, and than you are always looking for the best angle to get so we can get the best view of those Men & Women kicking ass on one fire after another. Yes I have seen footage of other people taking videos of fires in and around the New York area. But your footage is always the longest, with the best damn angles that you can find. And you are always, ALWAYS PRAISING the JOB that they do. You deserve that praise also. You should be recognize by the city of New York and by The New York Fire Department for the great coverage that you bring to the City of New York and the job that those men & women do while battling the dangers every single day to keep New York safe. You could kinda see the flames dying down on the roof, and thick fuel rich smoke replacing the flames. Easy for me to say with 20/20 hindsight. It's a major mayday when they leave the lines and tools behind. FDNY members pride themselves in being aggressive. I'm thankful everyone survived. Notice the roof chief was last down ensuring all his people were down first. #nycbravest

It just amazes me how they can pour thousands of gallons of water on a fire like this and it just keeps burning. You would think everything would be so saturated that the fire wouldn't keep spreading, I wonder how hot it got, and if it just vaporized the water. Just incredible! Wonderful footage, thank you!

You do an awesome job covering these fires. I mean, WOW dude. That’s the first actual backdraft explosion I’ve ever seen, other than the movie. I’m glad nobody got injured from that explosion. I’ve experienced 2 fires in my life. 1st one, I was 5 and our 2 storey apartment, a fire was from someone smoking in bed upstairs. The 2nd, I was 29, top floor flat and the girl across from me had a fire in her flat. She bolted and left her front door open, which the fire spread over to my flat via the roof.

@@Fireguy723 Pay close attention to the outpouring of black smoke from the shop next to, SideTracks beginning at about 8:41. It is indicative of incomplete combustion. Which leads to vulnerability. @@Fireguy723 Pay close attention to the outpouring of black smoke from the shop next to SideTracks beginning at about 8:41. It is indicative of incomplete combustion. Which leads to vulnerability. Another great job, sir. Thanks again for your dedication. It appears that was a true backdraft (v flash-over) at @9:28. I noticed they seemed to be venting the front windows just prior to the (backdraft) event. Perhaps you should provide FDNY with your video for purposes of study. My guess (PURE SPECULATION) is that this was a exhaust vent in a restaurant that caused this fire. Again just a guess but it would not surprise me.

It came on so quick. I honestly thought it was going to be later in the video, but it happened right at the start. I saw the smoke thicken and turn gray with a lot of turbulence and the alarm bells started going off in my head, but if you were on the ground you would of had no time to get anything done or get out of the way. It went from fine to shit in about a minute and it didn't become very obvious until about 15 seconds before, and by then it was too late to get out of the way.

8:31 & 8:54 - If you watch, you can see the fire get sucked in. Then again to nothing. That wasn't your great aim that made the flame disappear guys. I wonder if the roof even knew the bottom was trying to make entry.? I'm guessing they didn't. A senior would have noticed the signs if they did. You would hope anyway. Those persons could have been too busy. A lot going on, on that roof. Things get hectic, and engines overlap. I wish they could make it smoother for communication for both police and fire when they have to merge like this. You can get a lot of newbies learning. And you try to keep everyone informed and safe can get cumbersome. Love the commentary on the video though. Should always have someone taping and doing photography at every scene. For the families if nothing else. For educational purposes for the books. Hope everyone makes a smooth recovery. Bet the wives and children are having a harder time with this one though. I sure know that. Bet sometimes they don't even go to sleep until you get home safe.? So get home safe! Sorry for the tears all over the screen. It just hits home.

Cody Lewis - I one hundred percent agree with that. But the amount of water on being put on that fire, would be like me pissing on a bonfire. But my firefighter father agrees with you. And with the last name of Lewis, I'm thinking you are a child of a firefighter myself.? Still have my gut from all the times I have been dragged on the rig back in the day, brought to the station during off days, on sight, and listened to the many of conversations of firefighters giving their commentaries and insight to what happened those days. And let's not forget the many many conversations about fire growing up. You learn a little something. But I'm just giving my opinion in a sl. joking fashion from a man's bird's eye view on a bridge. Something I'm sure none of them had. Just all in hindsight. Much love. True Firefighters can take it.
