people always think they just put the lights and sirens on for fun. if the lights and sirens are on, someone's life is directly at risk. it's crazy that people think they have somewhere more important to be than the ambulance.

The entire street grid needs to be reconfigured in the city. And any vehicle caught double parked, idling, parked or ANYTHING on an emergency services lane should suffer points off their license no questions asked. These taxis, ubers, bikers and selfish pedestrians need to pay the price and so often nothing happens to them. They need to be corralled and ticketed where they stand on the god damn SPOT.

Exactly! because that is pretty much what happened. it's much faster to get an ambulance in the outer boroughs of the city then in the middle of Manhattan

Why are cars still driving thru the intersection????????????????? Is those cars stopped driving thru the intersection then those cars would have had a better chance of moving out of the way. I cannot believe how SELFISH people are in NY!!!!!!! Cars just sitting there in front of the ambulance where they had LOTS of room to pull over and just acting like they are what? DEAF???? Can't see the lights?? Seriously those people need to have their LICENSES TAKEN AWAY!!!!!

Some Australian ambulance services use motorcycle response paramedics. They'd work well in NYC.
@Jamie2829 Жыл бұрын
How will they carry the patient in the motorcycle tho?
@coover65 Жыл бұрын
@@Jamie2829 Heavy duty straps. Nah, the role of a motorcycle paramedic is to get to the patient faster. They then wait for the ambulance while treating the patient. We also have paramedics on bicycles and golf buggys to cut through the crowds at special events.

Very true...People in NYC do not know how to drive, they do not know when to move when an emergency vehicle is trying to get through. It is disgusting, I am on the road everyday, even on my bike and see this every other day which is sad and at 2:59 I was hit by a bicyclist going the wrong way against traffic that is why that guy just popped up.. he hit me.. lol :/

It has been 3 years since this reply, but talking about bicycles... Emergency vehicles in The Netherlands use the bike paths on a regular base to pass the rush hour grid lock. See: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqeWZ2x6rLKDa9k Versus this video.

To their left or their right esp in the middle of the street they could of pulled over and made room from them to get through even in that kind of traffic, best believe if it was a firetruck or police truck they would of moved out of the way in a heartbeat.

A wide variety of things can be done to reduce traffic congestion. As always, the regular public transport such as trains and buses always helps. Park and ride services are good too and should be heavily promoted to remind people such services exist.
