this is by far my fave video.First, look at the traffic cop holding her ears Second look at the way the driver maneuvers the truck.That is a feat in itself.That truck is almost as big as a 2 family house and the way he drives is just awesome.Our driver would have flipped that truck within seconds of coming out of the house.

The best vids of FDNY responses that I see are mostly of R1. They always respond with great speed and driving, great sirens and airhorns. Overall excellent code 3 responses. But I guess when you are going out well over a few times a day, you're bound to be excellent. good video thnx

Well you're there though my video, BUT I was there LIVE, and it was incredible how he just maneuvered around the stopped traffic while avoiding oncoming traffic and all that while moving along ... That's why I said AWESOME driving job ... Thanx for the comments ... :)

Each state has different laws regarding scanners, here in Illinois it's legal, indiana not, some states it's illegal to have public safety agencies programmed in your radio & some states if you have a certain class ham license you can then listen to those bands, very complicated.

LAPD switched to electronic sirens a few years after the Watts riots. LA County FD engines sported electronic sirens only for just a few years in the middle and late 60s. By the 1970s, they were running Q's and have ever since. No more Superchiefs. I believe LA City didn't go back to motor sirens until the current decade. I live in Seattle now, where engines and trucks have both Electronic Q's AND Unitrol Omega electronic sirens. Most of the time, they only run the Unitrols.

Incredible driving? Traffic? Er, there were no moving vehicles to speak of other than Rescue 1, and as for the incredible driving skills, it was going in a straight line though there was a swerve toward the end to avoid hitting the stationary red tourist bus.

They were responding to an ALL HANDS Fire on 66th. St. and the Doors are usually ALWAYS open on the Rescues except MAYBE in the winter time ....

Hey i know that but the B&m superchief siren is consider in the federal q2b siren family due to the similar shape almost and similar sound but smalller made differently very little and much more easier on the vehicles alternator.

In fact the little LACO FD patrol trucks w Super Chiefs were much louder than full size engines w only electronic sirens. Thinking of Patrol and Engine 44 running to chaparral fires in the San Gabriel mtns.

a couple of the squads and some of the rescues get together, buy a q and mount them along with train horns (squad 288), only problem is they have to remove them if they have to go into the shop for repair cuz the mechanics will take em off and throw them out
