They don’t retire these units well until they are in the their 60s odd are these are gunna get sold to some small town or even sent to South America to fight fire in Mexico or Brazil , these rigs can be worth as much as 1 million dollars a piece no reason to scrap them when they work perfectly fine if not better than new rigs

Great walk around, thanks for sharing🤩👍 Wow I can’t believe those are already 20 years old, man time passes 😱 When I built my model Tiller 118 back then, those types were in regular service.

Absolutely outstanding coverage on this segment with very historical facts. Keep up on your great style of how you get in depth with the rigs and the houses.

Thank you for the positive input on my video! I try to share the most accurate & interesting information on these pieces. I started doing the Walkarounds, and attempting to catch the oldest units responding as they’ll be gone soon. I will continue to upload more and build upon my older videos to make for even greater content. Appreciate the kind words. :)

WHY was the PA300 siren replaced?!
@Stargazzer811
@Stargazzer811 Жыл бұрын
Because the FDNY was told to stop using Q-sirens. Ya see, there is a noise ordinance in NYC that prohibits the use of mechanical sirens. Not wanting to lose that distinct sound the FDNY decided to adopt the EQ2B wholesale. This meant there was also no need for the PA300's as, why bother having 2 electric sirens when you can have 1? Simplifies maintenance and cuts down costs. Now that said, alot of FDNY companies run Q's again in this day and age because as fire department's have found so very many times, nothing moves traffic better than a mechanical siren.
@Bobman84
@Bobman84 Жыл бұрын
@@Stargazzer811 That doesn't make sense, since PA300 was already widely in use across most of the fleet in the 80s, 90s and 00s. Perhaps only a few select rescue companies had the original Q in the 90s and early 2000s? Clearly the honking drivers in NYC don't care about noise ordinances.
@Stargazzer811
@Stargazzer811 Жыл бұрын
@@Bobman84 It might not make sense, but it's entirely true. The EQ2B offered by Federal Signal was developed by them with FDNY input, hence why they adopted it.
