Fear is a powerful force, often used as a weapon to control, manipulate, and handicap spiritual advancement. In the Hidden Gospel of Thomas, which has significantly influenced the teachings of the Sacred Atlantean Brotherhood, Jesus profoundly addresses this issue. He states, "The Scribes and the Pharisees have taken the key of knowledge and hidden it. They do not enter, nor do they allow those who wish to enter to do so." He further illustrates this concept by saying, "The Scribes and the Pharisees are like a dog asleep in a Manger of Oxen; it (the dog) does not eat nor does it allow the oxen to eat."
The Key of Knowledge
These parables from Jesus highlight a crucial issue: the obstruction of spiritual knowledge by those in positions of authority. The "key of knowledge" represents the hidden secrets and profound truths veiled in scriptures, which have been concealed and monopolized by a select few for ages. This deliberate withholding of knowledge serves to maintain control over the masses, using fear and superstition as tools to prevent spiritual awakening and advancement.
The Role of Fear in Suppressing Spirituality
Fear has historically been used to maintain the status quo and prevent individuals from seeking deeper spiritual truths. By instilling fear of the unknown, fear of retribution, or fear of ostracism, those in power can effectively suppress the natural inclination of individuals to explore and understand their spiritual essence. This suppression hinders spiritual growth and keeps people trapped in a cycle of ignorance and dependence.
