That feeling when you have 1 hour of unsaved progress and you DO NOT WANT to face a flamethrower trooper

This has the same vibes of entering the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger in the first game, in a sense where you feel much more trapped. The feeling is kinda not present throughout Termina since it is a town and it will be, of course, much more open and less overwhelming than what a dungeon can be, and I'm not saying this to belittle one or another, the two games have different feelings and emotions they emmit with their own purposes. But when you enter the White Bunker, the claustrophobia, the feeling of going somewhere you shouldn't have gone to, the feeling of delving too deep... It all comes back full circle.

Coming into the White Bunker and exploring it is legitimately one of my favourite moments in any video game. It's taken so painfully long to get here - with who knows how many failures, deaths, or dead ends along the way - so the promise of revelations is tantalizing. We can't resist opening the door. We can't resist stepping inside. But when we do, the door slamming shut is a reminder of the danger we put ourselves in, just to get more context. As it closes shut behind us, there is a sense of finality. And yes, there is revelation, and gods, and great and terrible enemies. But weirdly, one of my favourite parts of the game is just sneaking around hopelessly dark corridors and avoiding Bremen Elite Troopers, watching as these implacable, mountainous men patrol, the last vestiges of a once-great army, whittled down to a bunch of homicidal super-soldiers. And then - oh, the sublime nature of those walkways. Giant hands reaching up out of endless, man-made tunnels. Amazing how the game can provide such a sense of daunting scale. Then there's the sound at 2:09. Oh, all just tremendous horror, and wonderful game design.

Honestly, I agree. Kinda wish they made the white bunker longer. It's clearly larger than we get to explore

It felt more like a power trip area right before you get curbstomped by the last bosses to me, and not nearly as oppressive as the original gauntlet. Still though I’d rather play this than have the bs swinging axes or bugs on the floor like FaH1

I'd want to indulge in caving a little more once this is over. Never got the chance to, beyond occasional trips to those commercialized sights. Maybe I'll try out Archeology? No, making a profession out of it sounds boring...

With more enemy diversity this could have easily been a larger final dungeon. The music, the corridors, the guards lurking around the corner. I remember this track and the atmosphere brought back a lot of dread after I found my steady rhythm in my first playthrough.
