I see you use mostly downstrokes? im practicing with up and downstrokes. is there a big difference?

Wesley R big difference, all downstroke (mostly for metal and rock) sounds stronger and more consistent.

christapher cole yes it is think of it as 3 groups of two string 6&5 string E&A is the Lower registry 4&3 string or D&G Middle registry and 2&1 string B&E is high registry. Just like an amp Low, Mid, High you can also go between the registries which gives it a connected feel. learn your Major & Minor Pentatonic Scales. it is a 5 note scale so your missing a 2nd and the 6th if you add those two notes to the pentatonic scale you now have modes. Get practicing hurry up.

I was too but dont worry the more you do them the more you get used to them just start off really slow also you can just hold you hand in the difficult position without playing for a while and you hand will slowly stretch

Yeah, keep practicing and use a metronome with low bpm's ( increase speed as your muscles get used to the movement) and also use the pentatonic scale with it ( alternate picking) up and down in oderly fashion...good luck!
