This episode is quintessential Eric Rosen: Hedgehog thumbnail. Hot Tea Szn. Funny mate. Clipart hedgehog walking across the screen. London. Someone call an ambulance meme IRL . All that was missing was a rubber duck or a photo of a goat playing chess.
@lnhaIeeАй бұрын
Instead of the photo we got a whole hour watching the goat

The clipart hedgehog walking across the screen had me laughing so hard people around me were, like, "How are you finding chess so hilarious?" and I didn't know what to say 🦔🤣

The opponent's name in the second game in original greek is Πτολεμαῖος, which is Ptolemaîos with english pronanciation, and Ptolemy as the english decided to say it. He was the successor of Alexander the Great and became the Pharoh of Egypt and was the ancestor of Cleopatra.

2:50 "Maybe rE8" This is a move I would never consider, because not only is the file not open with both pawns alive, but is almost fully occupied.

@Eric, this video is missing the timestamps in which we could see the opening names. That piece of info was really helpful as many times we are not able to understand the name of the opening in the oral format.

Eric’s favourite weapon: Getting squished in the Sicilian
@TimetickerАй бұрын
Judging by the name, I think you played a famous Dutch person in the beginning. Tex de Wit is a journalist working for several Dutch TV programs, namely Zondag met Lubach and...Makkelijk Scoren. Tex is a great player, once having an over the board rating of 2300+.

22:34 that name i believe is just a Hungarian for an ancient scientist (Ptolemy in English), and i remember him as a geocentrist from school! (yes with my >90% absence its pretty crazy to remember the random stuff)

@jamesduggan7200Ай бұрын
In Game 3, I never much liked N:c6, bc:; and I believe you handled the ensuing tactics very nicely. I feel like I learned something watching. Thanks. Game 1 was a textbook Sicilian and it looked to my amateurish eye that f4?! was a mistake, especially after Kh1. Pawnstorming is often double-edged, IMHO.
@davesmith9122Ай бұрын
When the opponent makes the move at 5:47, why not play pawn h6 as defense? Preventing the opponents pawn from kicking the knight?

Can’t help asking. Since you play Taimanov a lot what is your take on O’Kelly? I have played a6 on move two for years. I recognize familiar positions when you play Taimanov. I suppose for one thing a6 seems slow, but then after that the game flows easily. I learned the Sicilian by my mistakes mostly and at some point I was desperate for more aggression after playing c5. People recommended the O’Kelly and since then it has been my main weapon. I’m just curious if you ever came across it or considered fun

at 30:21 how come a pawn just doesn't take his knight??
@thekilla1234Ай бұрын
Then the king takes his bishop. So it's either knight for bishop, or pawn for pawn. Doubling up your pawns to save a center pawn that is hard to defend is not a great prospect.
@kingrex1931Ай бұрын
Since your taking suggestions on openings, you should play the cow.

@Semicolon42Ай бұрын
I care because gen ai takes a lot of resources, power and water from local communities, and it generates images based on art taken from human artists with no compensation for using their art to train their machines. Plus, it often looks kind of bad. It has a weird quality to it. There are thumbnail artists that online people can use that often make better images more appropriate for the video. And support artists directly rather than the subsidized hidden cost of all the gen ai stuff
@tangerinqАй бұрын
I agree. The AI art is as bland as it gets.
@superdan2593Ай бұрын
It's just my opinion but I prefer the first episodes from this series as I can relate much more. At this level I have a really hard time following. This is still entertaining though.
