@@bishbosh4815 season 8 for the first 5 episodes (aside from the first stupid decision to kill Morales off) was relatively good… then episode 6 happened and we flip flopped from good, ok, to bad episodes one after another. Definitely the main plot points I’ll list really hurt season 8. - killing off Carl and making him a… pacifist? - Daryl continuing his asshole and stupid decisions - Tara going on a revenge rampage against Dwight just didn’t work There are other issues with the season, but these 3 stick out like a sore thumb.

And the lukewarm final episode didn’t help things. All this culminated in being the final straw for people. Even with season 9 being a far better season, the damage was already done and nothing could change that.

I honestly wish we had Dave Erickson, the original show runner for seasons 1-3, write seasons 4 and 5 instead of Ian and Andrew the current show runners giving us this garbage..man has the show fallen flat for quite a long while. This show honestly isn't healthy to be viewing at this point, it should be taken off the air for dangers of mental health decline, loss of brain cells and increased risk of alcoholism as a coping strategy. You're also 100% right about this being the worst season, at least season 5 deliberately tried to be optimistic and hope oriented. It at least knew what it was. The writing was bad and so many moments were downright nauseating but Season 7's writing in a technical sense has to take the cake for most illogical, visionless and plot-hole ridden dogshit to ever grace TV screens and it makes some of the worst shows on the CW look good.

Lol Morgan really has done a number on Alicia. I wish these characters stopped being so fucking pacifistic and holier than thou merciful trying to be the moral police. I miss the days when characters in TWDU were just savage and badass and weren't so concerned with concepts of right and wrong and being a good person. Back when Dale pleaded with the group to spare Randall and keep their humanity it was a complex philosophical debate and he was inspiring, but since then it's so sickly and cringey how characters are always about forgiveness and letting people literally get away with murder so long as they don't get their hands dirty, even if it ends up with blood on their hands when it comes back to bite them in the ass. Alicia is fucking atrocious for judging and hating Strand for killing Wes when he was LITERALLY about to kill her! Yeah, he was her friend and she was talking him down, I mean after all his transition from friend to foe took all of 5 minutes so why wouldn't it work the other way around, but he just shot Daniel and was about to kill her! And then she gives this cliche diatribe to Strand saying "ohh you'll never change" "you've always been this way" "you're a baddie and I was so foolish to think you'd changed" when she literally went into the tower to KILL HIM! Honestly these characters flip flop on their ideologies and motivations every scene!

The preview for next week’s episode just goes to show how POINTLESS this entire season conflict is while trying to make Alicia’s journey to find Padre sound perfectly rational and reasonable considering her POINTLESS “Moses” journey started the POINTLESS conflict and POINTLESSLY destroyed every hospitable place left in the radiation zone. Of course spending next week’s entire episode is POINTLESSLY all about leaving the orange dust and finding Padre considering that throughout the season they’ve don’t the GOT S8 form of teleporting throughout the radiation zone. It’s all but certain that Madison is just a last minute scene addition to salvage the poor writing of S7 unfortunately. Wonder how worth it it really is at this point.

Alicia getting angry with Strand because of what happened with Wes immediately made me side with him. Alicia has turned into an idiot at this point and has no real reason to be fighting Strand other than she just don't like him all of sudden due to plot and she needs a better place to live. Seriously though what are they even fighting about? Strand did not try to kill Alicia or go after her band of people that we never really did see this whole season other than Will. He was really just chilling in his tower that everyone else just wants to take from him. 🤷

I also think Andrew and Ian may be one of those people subverting expectations incorrectly. They did it with killing Madison and turning it into the Morgan show in S4. They did it when teasing the CRM in S5 only to backtrack that for the dumb as hell Help Wanted story. They did so when building an interesting arc for JD Jr just for Dakota to kill him mid-season in S6. They've done it again when building up Strand as the main nemesis of the season and going to war with him just to backtrack on that as well. Must of went to the D&D (GOT S8) school of subversions of expectations, Andy and Ian did.

Only reason Madison is back is because Alycia Debnam Carey wanted off the show so they needed a Clark otherwise they feared losing more viewers (which the show continues to lose). They NEVER planned to bring back Madison. Andrew and Ian are known to be arrogant and proud writers. Did everyone forget how badly they defended their decisions of season 5 when they were told fans were disappointed and upset with that season? Regardless of what people believe these two idiots made it clear they wanted Madison off to make Morgan the lead. It was planned the moment Dave Erickson left. Plus both made it clear they hated season 1-3 hence why they rebooted the show. Also remember Scott Gimple wrote that newer fans did not have to watch the first three season to watch season 4? All red flags many people ignored. And don't get me wrong I gave them a chance and they both have shown how careless they are.

I have disagreed with you on the previous two episodes, Josh. However, I completely agree with you on this one. This episode was terrible! The biggest problem especially was that I looked like we were gonna get an epic battle that was built up...and we never did get a battle, not even an awful battle! Also, Alicia and Strand were horrendous in this episode as well. Daniel was good and I'm glad Wes was FINALLY gone but even those two moments couldn't save this episode! Also, yeah, I agree with you about season 7 being worse than season 5. Season 5 was terrible, but at least it had a clear direction. With season 7, there is no clear direction. Wes's motivation for being against Alicia literally is one of the most non sensical things I've seen and that's saying something. Dude says that Alicia left him to die in the Bunker. What the hell is Wes talking about? The last time he was with Alicia was when she stayed behind in the Bunker in season 6 and they all left her to basically die. Wes MAKES NO SENSE Also the whole scenario of Strands guys turning on him for Wes makes no sense either. What power and sway did Wes have over Strands Rangers. How do all the Rangers in the building all the sudden align with Wes. What the hell is going on!

The only thing I felt during this episode, apart from the cringe and feeling my brain cells die, it's sadness watching strand, alicia and daniel together and remember the old days and how bad the show is now. seasons 1 and 2 weren't perfect, there were a lot of problems, but there are a good things and then with season 3 the show found it's place. Then the fired the showrunner and everything went to shit. I'm still watching, and I'll watch the next episodes, but I don't know how much I can take.

For all this season’s many many MANY faults, I can’t call it the worst season. The nuclear wasteland atmosphere at least gives this season an identity. Season 4 and 5 were just boring and not interesting in the slightest. Season 5 also had no purpose. It’s just the characters running around helping people. At least this season has SOMETHING going on with Strand and the tower. Granted, it’s not good in the least, but I still can’t call season 7 the worst. I at least enjoyed the first episode. I can’t think of a single scene that I enjoyed in season 4 and 5.

I agree that this is basically total bullshit, but just because Alicia says PADRE doesn't exist, that doesn't mean she's right. PADRE does, or at least did, exist for sure. Alicia found that file on P.A.D.R.E. in the bunker and it was a US Government file, and Will said how the Senator wouldn't share details because they were confidential, so it definitely did exist at some point. It's still fucking ridiculous the way they've been teasing it all season though and people just don't talk or act this way. Total nonsense.
