Hey Marina...just a suggestion...for the windows across from your kitchen...raise your curtain rod to the ceiling and lengthen your checkered curtains by adding a rectangle of black fabric at the bottom. I think you would like the change it would make and you wouldn't notice the change in wall color as much. Much love to you and yours..God Bless!

One idea for the island storage would be to use it for items in case of a storm or power outage such as candles, flashlights, radio, ponchos, etc. That way they are within quick reach yet out of sight.

What wonderful ideas!! Especially those countertops! I'm just now getting used to my S/W mobile (18 mo. in) after living all my life in stick built homes. Not gonna lie. It was an adjustment for me. We've done alot already, with alot to go. I'm repainting the shutters and my husband has got the holes dug for the new deck and mud room. New flooring is in and paint, paint, paint! We are complete DIYers also. Alot of work, but when each project is finished it's so rewarding.

Oh my gosh, Marina! I’ve been following you & commenting on your videos almost since the beginning of your channel, and you still bring a smile to my face and inspire & motivate my faith, my DIY’ing and the way I live life in general! You & Shane are such a blessing to all of us, and thank you for sharing your beautiful life & personality with us!💞 Having said that, at the end of your video you mentioned mobile homes & tornados, and that sparked a memory I had to share! I was born, raised & continue to live in MO, dab smack in the middle of Tornado Alley, and I’ve lived through countless tornados, but always in a home with a basement. Back an 2008, I experienced a true miracle when God opened up the possibility for me to pursue my life long dream of going to college full-time. So I at the ripe old age of 51, I moved in with my mom in St. Louis and dove into school! In 2010 I became engaged to the most wonderful man on the planet who lived in a beautiful mobile home on 20 acres on the outskirts of Kansas City, MO. During the summer of 2011, I had the opportunity to spend the summer with him, so in May I packed up my car & my puppy Lulu & headed for country living! He was retired but working part time for FEMA, and not long after I got there, an F5 tornado ripped through MO, hitting Joplin head on, causing an unprecedented number of deaths and almost destroying the whole city, so he is was called up to go assist the clean up effort. (One of the reasons for the terrible destruction in Joplin was the massive size & strength of the tornado and the fact that 80% of the homes in Joplin were without basements due to the high costs of digging a basement out of the underground limestone and high water table. People simply had nowhere to go) I’m so used to bad spring and summer storms & tornadoes, I didn’t get worried when he left until one afternoon when I was outside on his deck working on an assignment and noticed that the atmosphere had changed…it became extremely still, there wasn’t a sound to be heard despite usually being surrounded by birds, frogs, dogs, turkeys, you name it, and the sky had “gone green,” all of are which mean trouble is brewing in my neck of the woods. I immediately jumped out of my chair, ran inside the trailer, turned on the news and honest to God, this is what I heard; “For anyone in a mobile home in Eastern Jackson County (me), please leave immediately & seek shelter. A violent tornado has been spotted 10 miles west of Buckner (me again), traveling east along highway 70, and is predicted to hit Independence at 2:30, Bucker at 2:40…!” I thought, what the heck am I supposed to do…there was nowhere close to run to & I didn’t know the area at all! At that moment the trailer was hit with one of the most violent storms I’d ever experienced in my life, so I grabbed Lulu, my purse, my phone, and my rosary, and every pillow, cushion, and blanket I could find and headed for the guest bathroom in the center of the trailer…the only room without windows! Despite being used to storms like these, saying I was terrified is an insane understatement! They say tornados sound like freight trains and the do, but this one also sounded like there was a jet crashing down on top of us! I’ve never heard anything like it before or since. Suddenly it felt like all the air in the bathroom had been sucked out, and pressure surrounded my head and my ears began popping! I thought this is it! I’m either going to die or be like Dorothy & Toto & end up in Oz. I’d been praying to God asking him if that if i was meant to die, could He make it quick, when I remembered my phone. I didn’t have service, but I sent a I text my soon-to-be husband anyway, & told him that I loved him and not to feel bad if I died. Then I waited! It felt like that tornado stayed over that trailer for hours, but it was only a few minutes. When I finally realized the storm had passed and could finally work up the strength to crawl out of the tub, I thanked God for sparing us & walked out into the hall expecting bedlam, but all was fine! The acre around the trailer looked like a demolition site, but that trailer had hung on. However, I also knew that I probably wouldn’t get another “save”like that again. When I finally had phone service, I’d received calls & texts from everyone who knew where I was, including a frantic 80 year old mom and a slightly agitated fiancé! The tornado had touched down in several areas very close by, but I was spared. When I finally spoke to my guy, I told him that I loved him with every ounce of my being, but there was no way that I would EVER endure another tornado in a trailer. I didn’t care where we lived, as long as it had a basement. Thankfully, it was a buyers market, and we were able to find a nice home with a basement priced lower than it originally sold for in 1975, and we’re still in that home! But I will never forget that experience…it was the most terrifying experience in my life! And for the record, despite what the critics say, the movie “Twister” is spot on, including finding cows stuck in trees! My husband later told me he thought the reason his trailer held on was because we weren’t hit directly…we’d just experienced the very edges of the side winds and that he had insisted “hurricane level” strappings were used to attach the trailer to the concrete pad, but he also remarked that the incident had concerned him because the tornado that sideswiped us was a smaller one (maybe F1), and he wasn’t sure it could withstand anything stronger. Thankfully we haven’t been forced to experience a larger tornado since, but they happen all around us, so I’m relieved that we have a basement to run to! So, for everyone out there who reads this and isn’t too familiar with tornados, PLEASE don’t discount them! Pay attention to your local meteorologists and head for safety! Tornado sirens usually give you time to get somewhere safe if you are out & about or living in a risky mobile home or a home without a basement.

Love the tour! I have a suggestion for your Papaw's table. I understand if you don't want to alter it. But since the size/shape doesn't really fit in your home, what if you just kept the top? You could have Shane cut off the legs. On the top you could transfer a picture of you and your Papaw, or a quote from him, Shane could paint something on it. Then you could hang it on the wall and think of him whenever you see it 💕

It is jut the 2 of us, we are in the process of buying a new doublewide, it will be our forever home. Trust me when I tell you we live a very simple life and have no problems living in a mobile home. So excited for your laundry room makeover. I find that is a tough spot in my home so I love to gather ideas. It's hard to tell without being there but I wondered, if you guys don't use the back door is there a way to put a fold down folding table that blocks the back door (assuming you never use that door) and then you could fold it up when you're not folding clothes so that the door can still be used as a safe escape. Hope that makes sense. Basically a folding table for folding clothes that could fold up and attach to the wall when you don't need it and so it wouldn't permanently block the back door.

is the lights plugged into a regular outlet plug behind the bookcase? if so they sell these plugs on amazon that you can plug into your outlet and then plug the lights into and it comes with a light switch that takes batteries you can stick to your wall and have a light switch for your 2 lights and it actually looks like a light switch :)

I would use the end of shelf cabinet. To store all different coffee products. I chose white on my walls. It's very easy on the eyes as the eyes age with stress

Marina, you are amazing! Your home looks absolutely lovely. You’re very creative and resourceful. I wasn’t aware that your kitchen sink was painted white. FYI, white sinks do look nice but they are very high maintenance. A stainless steel sink is a lot easier to clean and is more hygienic as it is antimicrobial. Also did you know that if your hands smell from cutting onions, to remove the odor all you have to do is rub your hands on a stainless steel sink and the smell disappears. If you don’t believe me, give it a try.
