lauren german (the actress who plays leslie shay) was also filming lucifer at the time. she couldn't shoot in los angeles and chicago at the same time so she decided to leave chicago fire and continue with lucifer. the writers have nothing to do with it

I can't believe I am saying this but I ship Shay and Severide, I know Shay is a lesbian but their chemistry is incredible. Maybe the writers are setting this up to be about unrequited love? I think Severide is going to fall for Shay but his love for her will not be returned because she's a lesbian.

No she's gay, not bi, it's very clear. Shay and Severide will never be a couple but here's what I think might happen: Shay wants a baby and is looking for a sperm donor, so I think she'll ask Severide to be the donor. But forget it, they'll never be a couple, it's very clear, their friendship is like a brother-sister relationship, Severide never even tried to make a move on her because he know she's gay and it won't change. Thank god, their friendship is more interesting to follow.
