@@petercui5464 hahahhahaa what prosperity? Dude have you looked up the bleiburg massacre where 500,000 slovenians and cros died they were not just man but children and women all under the order of Tito. Kinda shocked how many people not know this. Not only that but anyone who were not serbs were mistreated, they would beat up anyone who taught croatian or slovenian history. This was not a country of prosperity... Countries do not just leave bc of prosperity. What you see now is prosperity, Croatians, Bosnians and even serbs are much more happier being independent as their is actual peace now.

@Bozovic Jesu li Srbi rušili i palili crkve?

Can we all agree that too many lives were lost, and too many people put into grief? Nobody wins a war. Ever. I heard my mother tell her stories of the war, and how her friend's house was blown up. And how she would have to go into a bomb shelter in the middle of her classes at school. She told me these stories a long time ago, so correct me if I'm wrong but War is nobody's friend. Especially not to the ones left behind.

Great point. Our differences are meant to unite us to create a colorful world, not divide us into killings and violence. Especially in the case of Balkan Slavs, who really created the idea of so many divisions among the Slavs, such as the Serbs and Croats who basically speak the same language (not trying to deny there are fundamental differences, personally an 'outsider' so trying to avoid over-commenting), are so much different between each other? When I looked at history, there is one thing that I can't just skip on for this matter. Imperialism. Basically different imperial forces, who was doing similar things around the world. They've imposed different religions, cultures and rules on different sections of the people. The division lines were merely cease-fire lines of those imperial superpowers, from my perspective. I'm personally not Slavic. I'm trying to understand from the perspective that I'm Chinese. Similar to southern and western Slavs our people and our homelands were subject to brutal imperial and colonial exploitations. A lot of our people died and a lot more damage was caused simply because of the greed of imperialists. One of the worst examples was the Russo-Japanese war, which almost entirely happened within the boarders of today's China. One of the worst thing both sides did was killing Chinese who were alleged to work for the other side... Anyways, wish you the best of the luck. R.I.P for your dad. Stay strong.

@@masudaahmed7990 Depends on the perspective. My neighbors were killed on video by Mujahideen in Jasenica. Same people were given highest honors by Bosniaks. Some of them participated on 9/11 attacks. My ancestors graves were destroyed, I was refugee myself, my dad was hiding Muslims in the basement during war. People I loved died, sometimes in mass graves as well. Serbs felt they don't want Ottoman times back (as it was worst period in our history, look it up). In all previous wars in Balkans we suffered the most, without any question. My best friend is Muslim/Croatian. My father's best friend is Muslim. It's silly sticking national labels and calling Republika Srpska genocidal state, as it's silly calling all Bosniaks islamist extremists. Our people (all of Balkans) are victims of our cultural diversity. It is what makes Bosnia special, but it's also what makes it so easy to manipulate towards hatred.

@tesko radic Chetniks were idiots, in my personal opinion. They were British and Italian mercenaries, no freedom fighters there. But if you pull my tongue, I may just explain how Prince Eugen unit slaughtered my grand-grandparents on Grmec mountain, on their doorstep, making their 7 kids orphans. I can tell you how my family paid with their lives being Serbian. You can find them on many Partisan monuments around Bosnia, and wider. Srebrenica was disaster, someone dares doing that in my name, I would kill them myself if i would have a chance. But is just disgusting how some people always play victims, and their hands are bloodied more than anyone's - ex. Milosevic's bodyguard, Naser Oric.

@@Stargazer86m out of interest what proof do you have that Naser Oric committed war crimes, I always hear ambiguous statements that he destroyed Serb villages around Srebrenica, but which ones exactly? Mladic came to slaughter my town Gorazde but moved onto Srebrenica. I am convinced today Serbs would have said it was done in retaliation for destroying Serb villages around Gorazde. Just interested into why you guys believe that, based on what information.

Actually, for me, this is a pretty realistic explanation with very solid historic background explanation, which is rare in such videos. In reality, it was a culmination of numerous problems and antagonisms suppressed by the oppressive communist regime for half a century. The sole formation of unified Yugoslavia in 1918. was a noble cause, but in reality, a big mistake made by the Kingdom of Serbia in its pursuit to make a country big and strong enough to counter constant invasions from foreign powers to South Slavic territories. What Alexandar I failed to recognize is that centuries of separation, different religions and cultural influence from the Catholic West, Orthodox East, and Islam have made such a huge separation between South Slavic people that national unification in a way Italy or Germany have had was not possible anymore. It would be much better if Serbia just continued to exist as an independent country and only politically supported others to establish their own national states without unification or only with some sort of federal union with clear borders. Making one unified kingdom was a ticking bomb that only waited to explode. It happened first in 1941. and then again in 1991.

One thing to add was the fact that, during the power-vacuum of 1991, the JNA was arming Bosnian Serb paramilitaries all throughout Bosnia. Milošević knew very well what he was doing prior to the independence referendum of 1992. It’s no wonder the VRS could blitz so much territory in two years. Also, it’s the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as the second entity. Bosnia-Herzegovina is the federal state comprising both the RS and FBiH.

In the war city and the villages to the east and west were owned by the Serb Republic, and the southern villages by the bosniak forces. It doesnt matter who lives where, only matters what is signed in Dayton agreement. Bosnikas are majority in some cities in east RS but now its still part of RS, same as Serbs are majority in some parts of Kanton 10 but its still part of Federation.

I guess you did a pretty good job with these videos considering the subject. It's always hard to stay neutral and/or objective when talking about the wars that ended Yugoslavia. So thumbs up for that! You didn't make too much of a mess since you cramped everything in two videos, and that is a remarkable accomplishment. But don't relax just yet, stay tuned cause the situation in the region is heating up again, and my guess is you will need to make part 3 soon. God I hope I'm wrong, would hate to go trough it all over again, but I just have that feeling that this whole conflict is just on pause waiting to start again.

So Bosnia (a country already within the Yugoslavian federation), decides to split up into different ethnic factions, leading to a civil war within an already large civil war involving multiple independent nations inside Yugoslavia. This is why Otto von Bismark siad that the "next great European war would start in the Balkan Powderkeg", sure enough we got WW1 which led to WW2 which started the Cold War. So in general you can blame the entire 20th century being a shit storm on the Balkans.

Bismarck had no clue when talking about the Balkans, he had no understanding of the intricacies. The British on the other hand had been involved in the region for a while and knew exactly who would start the violence and what side they would pick.

Meme Dankington I know the Serbs did horrible things during the war, but what about the Croatians who destroyed and burned down homes where serbians were living, thousands of serbs (even more then thousands) were forced to leave their homes and retreat to Serbia. So dont act all innocent as both sides did horrible crimes against each other.

All countriea are doing fine, some more, some less...it's just a matter of time when everything will be sorted out. The war is not that long ago so you can't expect an perfect country after. Many war crimes have to be cleared out and the right people for presidents. But as a Tourist you will never feel any hate or something. I am a croat, going every year to croatia, so i know it's not perfect at all, but the young countrys of former yugoslavia will rise. The war is over and thats it. I have been also to serbia and i have many serbian friends and we all respect us and love us. There is no hate. I have been to Belgrade 2 years ago an i haven't felt any hate at any certain point in time there. But i can tell you, as a Tourist in any of these countries you will have fun and will never be hated, no matter wich nationality you have. (Unless it's an boomer wich still think the war isn't over)
