A mighty blast from the past. I love WMC-TV Memphis, I wished that I had a DeLorean time machine and traveled back into the 1980s and 1990s and to see the good ol' days of Memphis and the Mid-South.

WMC TV 5, in the 80s and 90s, was the number 1 station in the region...as was the case with the majority of NBC stations at the time. TV5 was unique in that there were no other NBC affiliates for miles around (WTVA 9 - 108 miles to the SE in Tupelo; KARK 4 - 138 miles SW; WOWL TV 15 - 155 miles to the SE in Florence, AL; WLBT 3 - 209 miles to the South in Jackson, MS; WPSD TV 6 - 200 miles to the North in Paducah, KY; WSMV 4 - 212 miles to the NE in Nashville.) The station dominated due to the lack of other NBC affiliates in the area, the channel position, NBC programming, the station's news/weather/sports/wrestling personalities, local/syndicated fare and the station branding/signature riverboat whistle. I believe WMC TV had a hand in WJWT 16 in Jackson, TN (now WJKT) not signing on as an NBC affliate during the 80s - ever. Even though WJWT had been an independent, the station would show some NBC programming during the day (particularly game shows).

That promo was the final episode of (Remington Steele) after five seasons as it wasn't on long in 1987 anyway, most of them were two hour episodes.

@@MMAfighter38113 I'm surprised NBC renewed it for a few more TV Movie or hour episodes then it ended.
