Mariska singing Venus(goddes instead of godnes), i think her best performance live on tv. What a voice, wonderful.

This is a fantastic song and Mariska's voice is great, a really bluesy cool track that knocks Bananarama's cover version into a cocked hat - one of the best singles EVER.

Wow - you can find only a couple of live recordings of "Venus" by the Shocking Blue; only one (so far) of the band playing live - and several of Mariska singing live over the music track. I like this one the best! Here she looks tired at first - maybe after a long flight or an early stop while on tour... but she carries the performance with the same great talent, beauty & poise as ever seen in other recordings of her. Watch her smile kick in & how she plays to the camera/audience while pointing & dancing seductively (00:58). The Goddess herself, indeed! Thank you very much for sharing this with us!! 💖

@@spacecoasttactical Hmmm... after looking at it again. it's obvious that the guitars are unplugged as was common on TOTP; but you can see & hear that she is not lip-synching by watching her mouth & hearing the sound of her voice (and no background/harmonizing vocals). You can also plainly see that the drummer is playing in time & also ringing his cymbals live. I've seen other groups "live" where the drummer is pulling their hits &/or avoiding their cymbals. It doesn't seem the case here... input?

So thanked to the YOU-TUBE CHANNEL Uploaded these songs. She had a nice vocal sharp tone, crystal voices, very nices to hear these songs ,COVID-19, LOCKDOWN PERIOD... She was a VENUS-And-GODDES.. I'm not sure if the instruments were mixed live only because back in the day it was a big production to set something like that up for a short performance but the vocal definitely was. They definitely looked like they were playing their instruments in sync for sure though. What a great song though. May she rest in peace.

Yes, I've heard several comments about this video and have to agree with you. I've also read that surviving members of the group said it was multitracked on 8 tracks which was standard protocol for that time (1969). But the question still remains-where are the original multitrack masters at? In fact I've never even heard a decent DES of this song. Maybe a true stereo mix one day?

I think the leader of the band, the guy who wrote this song and most of their portfolio (playing lead guitar), is the only of this version of Shocking Blue still alive. The bassist passed on in February, 2018. He'd put on a few pounds since these days. So did Mariska. The drummer died first, back in the 80s I think. Too bad, they were a fun and unique group while it lasted. They were among the first from continental Europe to hit it big in this genre of music, and the first to have a top hit in the US. As a famous America music critic said at the time of the groups first US tour 'Mariska Veres is a sincere talent. She is attractive, well portioned and sexy. She does not, however, flaunt anything but here voice, which in itself is her best asset. Not a native speaker Veres nonetheless handles English lyrics well and most can be fully understood. Her inflection is a bit off at times, a common problem of foreigners singing in English. Her backing band is perhaps standard issue for a band from continental Europe, unlike England, which is now very sophisticated in character development among band members, most often with their own fan clubs, products and lines of commerce. Shocking Blue isn't going to knock anyone over with superior music. But, they are very good and, should they continue to progress and get their hands on a strong and hard working manager who can find appropriate music for Veres, they may have a future'. He pretty much nailed her and the band. Now, they're all gone.

She had never experienced male - Female intimacy , and the only cats she liked were in Stir Fry Chow Yuk , and Bangladeshi Barbeque . She was a Hungarian Gypsy that practiced magic .
