Hello, quick question. In the DNA test ancestor timeline you are able to go back to about the 1700's I believe. In my own personal tree I have gone back hundreds of years before this, and I think it would be a very interesting feature if it was possible to have an interactive timeline that is able to go back as far back as your tree goes. Thanks!

I'm bummed that for over a year now there has been an issue with phantom hints. I keep reporting it & get the same answer about the site needs indexing or they are aware of the problem & are working on it. Also they removed the page #'s to our dna matches & the # of cousins listed just says 1000+ instead of what the true amount is.. That should be brought back. They keep making changes but fixing nothing.

I want to be able to copy photos from one tree to another. I can do one at a time, but is there a way to transfer more at one time?

When do you guess an update to the ancestrydna ethnicity estimates will be available?

In a future video, could you cover where and how to look for Italian or European Immigrants that traveled to Argentina ( South America).
@AncestryUS6 жыл бұрын
I will add it to the list. Thanks for the suggestion, Cristi.

So unrelated to this video, but I have a DNA question? My Dad’s DNA is linked to a separate tree from mine. Can he unlock It from that tree and reattach it to my tree so we can view our information on the same tree?
@AncestryUS6 жыл бұрын
Yes. He can change which tree his DNA is attached to through his his DNA Settings. He needs EDITOR access to your family tree in order to attach it. OR, he can share his DNA test to your account (with you invited as a contributor) and you can attach it to your tree on your account. Then he only needs GUEST access to view your tree from his account.

Crista, in your screen shot - ancestry still has the link to their blog, what I did not see was the link to the ancestry KZbin channel. Where is that link now or have they opted to no longer provide a direct link from their homepage?
@AncestryUS6 жыл бұрын
There is no longer a link from the homepage. But, if you go to the Support Center (either through the link under HELP at the top of the page or directly through the link at the very bottom of any page) you will find a link to the KZbin channel at the bottom of that page.

One thing I'm wondering about on the new homepage (which I haven't gotten yet) is I don't see the "My Quick Links" anymore. I have a bunch of links saved in mine currently (mostly to outside sites that have copies of old town or family history books) and don't want to lose them. Will that feature be going away?
@AncestryUS6 жыл бұрын
Currently, Quick Links are not on the redesigned homepage. I would recommend saving them as bookmarks in your web browser.

I wish my results would come in 🤦🏿♂️ or atleast be checked in
@maryc871216 жыл бұрын
Walter Brown as long as you activated it online with code, linked it to your email and tree and sent off a good sample just be patient it will come soon enough. I know they are behind on acct of the abundance of samples from DNA Christmas gifts that came in. It took abt 10days for them to receive it, abt 3weeks for my test to get checked in and abt 7weeks total for results eventhough they emailed it could take an additional couple of weeks. They will send status emails so be sure to add ancestry to your address book. Good luck..

You can watch sessions from past years here: www.rootstech.org/watch-past-sessions It looks like the information about the streaming for this year has not yet been put up on their website.

I am always confused about what to use for locations. For example, I have German ancestors who were born in Prussia. I keep the original location in my notes but what do I put on my tree? The current location name or historical?
@AncestryUS6 жыл бұрын
I use the current name and put the historic location in the description and/or notes. This way all of the current mapping technology works but I still know where to look for additional records. Some people do it the opposite way. Whichever way you choose, just be consistent so you don't confuse yourself. ;-) (~Crista)

I have tried to contact ancestry re certain filters and features are unavailable for my particular dna page and also after unlinking a tree to link another tree to my results, my dna circle has disappeared and not returned. Why cant multiple trees be linked . Some of my matches cant find me and think my tree has been deleted. ??

I have been with Ancestry since 2015 and I need help finding my father,Robert Hurst place of birth since there are no vital records for Pennsylvania,a waste of 30.00!!! He is deceasedin 1999 and was born in 1935.His father and uncles were born in Sardis Burke,Georgia and I notice on Ancestry his ss# was issued to him in 1950,at that time he was at the age of 25 years old.That makes me think he must had another number beforehand and it was changed for some reason. No one in the family has a clue about that,but that maybe why I cannot find his place of birth.I think it was Georgia as well with his father's place of birth and his uncles Charmaine Hurst is my name and working on the family Hurst. Now I am seeing Hearst too.Hurst was the original spelling and it was changed and the family branched off in Plymouth,Va. During my elementary and high school and while my daughter was in college was told we maybe related to the family Hearst!
@AncestryUS6 жыл бұрын
Charmaine - According to your father's social security application, he was born in Philadelphia and his parents' names are Robert Hurst and Ella Gilliam. He would have filled this form out himself. So, I would trust the accuracy of that information. Additionally, using the information on that records, I was able to locate Robert with his parents and older sister on the 1940 Census living in Philadelphia. Both children are listed as born in Pennsylvania. The family has been living there, it appears, since at least 1925 so it makes sense that your father would have been born there. You can find that record here: ancstry.me/2ClEodd I hope that helps! (~Crista)
