February 2021 Planner Setup - Personal Rings

Thanks, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one need to change planners :) my sister sent me a left handed planner(since I'm left handed, lol) and sounds funny; adjusting to it ;) and my son gave me a planner from Walmart, my schedule for work, a desk calendar in my office and in our bedroom a wall calendar I put our bills due, and second calendar I keep our work hrs on. Wow, now that I wrote these out lots to keep track of. Lol

Knew you'd be back in rings before long!!! PIVOT!!! Hope you're all ok. I've always loved how you reference and give credit to your sources. I'm still in my FC Compact Collages in burgundy, but I've ordered a custom personal Van der Spek, which I've got about another four weeks to wait for, and I'm beyond excited. I tend to stay in the same cover for a long time, and I've used FC inserts for twenty one years now, but I'm thinking of adding other systems in, because, due to the life changes I've gone through, and working from home, the inserts don't quite fit me as well. Lots of love xx

Good questions!! For me, the fact that the world closed meant we suddenly had a houseful of kids remote learning, so I just had to change what I was putting in my planner as I would for any life change. I am *hoping* that going back to my tried-and-true will get me back to that same level of efficiency. They’re very intuitive inserts to my brain; I put nearly zero thought into where I’m writing things when I need to do so or where to find info when I need it. Thank you for such great questions!!

Welcome back! I’m in the process of setting up my personal today. I’m enjoying my B6 Slim Nanami deconstructed notebook in my FC compact but I also have so many inserts I bought for the year and they were calling out to me. I have that Oli clip 💜. I can’t believe Liam is in school 🥺.

Hi Carie I do have a question like many of people I took a break from detailed planning due to circumstances, how hard was it to get back to using for instance the diy fish inserts and (ok 2 questions 😉) and do you think that you can get the same efficiency from them?

Hello! With everything that happened, I didn’t really have a significant drop in what I needed for planning... remote learning just took the place of what I normally would have been doing with my time. So far, I’m getting the same level of efficiency out of the DIYFish inserts... she’s brilliant!

Such a great question! I keep most of my To Do lists in the Trello app. Those items get transferred to the Monthly and/or the Weekky depending on where they need to be. I also keep items (especially repetitive weekly and monthly tasks) in the Reminders app on my phone so I get a reminder.

I added this to the list! I still don’t feel informed enough to do a video on it quite yet, and they just did a massive update, but as soon as I feel like I’m using it well I will be more than happy to do a video! Thank you for the suggestion!

Love this! I bought the moterm A5 on Amazon but without the rings in it. Do you know if I can now add the rings or do I need to just get another one that comes like this? I’ve seen rings available but don’t know if they are for this purpose. I kind of hate the idea of spending another $50-$75 on a new one. :/. Btw I really love your channel. Just found it and I’m hooked!!

Hello!! I would assume that is a folio-type of book, to hold a bound book (like a Hobonichi Cousin or A5 Stalogy, for example). If it has the large back pocket, I can see it being maybe possible to add some rings by putting the back plate into the back pocket and then cutting holes for the posts for the screes to push through into the interior. Alternatively, if you aren’t able to return it and get a refund in order to get one with rings, maybe you could post it for sale on Instagram or in one of the Buy-Sell-Trade groups.

What do you think of the planner? Is it comparable to filofax or like a gilo?

I truly enjoy my Moterm planners. I've never used a Gillio, so I can't make a comparison there. I like certain things about the Moterms and certain things about the Filofax Maldens. I am pleased with the quality of the Moterms I've used, especially considering the price point.

How do you attach the rings? Or do they just lay there?

In this planner, the rings come installed in the planner already. There is a backing plate inside the outside cover and inside layer to which they attach the rings with rivets. Other companies (like Moterm, for example) attach the rings with screws so you can change to rings with a different diameter if you'd like.
