I didn't do the tandem read of Throne of Glass mainly because I didn't know about it when I read it. I think the tandem read would be fun and keep you in the story but I don't think it's necessary.

I vote the tandem read! That's how I did it and I 100% would do it again. You get so many more viewpoints and it's easier to keep track of when things are happening

I think you should do the tandem read bc everyone likes either the EOS character povs or the TOD povs more. So the tandem will give you both without having to be stuck with certain characters. Personally, I loved Tower of Dawn more bc I love Chaol lol 💖💖

I didn't do a tandem read and I wish I would have. Tower of Dawn on its own was pain so I'd recommend the tandem (plus I've been wanting to reread the series so if you do a tandem read maybe it'll finally convince me to start!)

I absolutely loved Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. It is so well written and the audiobook is good too. Quick Silver is also really good. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Sword of Kaigen.

Do you need to do the tandem read to enjoy the series? No. But I do think it's worthwhile especially for your first read through. I am so glad I did it for my first time reading the series! The timing of the reveals is perfect and I felt like it only pulled me further into the world. Also, worst case scenario is you start out doing the tandem read and if you don't like it, then you switch fully to one book. 🤷‍♀

I tried to do the tandem read. It... did not work for me. (However, I do agree that if Kingdom of Ash had been out when I read Empire, I would have had a REALLY hard time not skipping straight there. Lol)

Creation Lake is wild. It’s like…how do we fix things? How far back do we go to re-do a starting point? What if humanity itself was the mistake? Steinbeck presumes a bit of Christian/Biblical fluency. It’s neither a good nor a bad thing but a lot of the depth in his books depends on the reader being able to see the references. Like in high school my English teacher didn’t predict that my predominantly Jewish class wasn’t going to pick up on what was going on with Grapes of Wrath (leader named JC, 12 followers, New Testament quotes). With East of Eden the title gives you a hint but it’s still more than you might expect from a book that’s considered a secular classic…but that’s a rant for another day lol.

I grew up in a religious household and I already see the reference in the title. I am hoping it will give me a good background going into the novel but overall I’m honestly just very intrigued?? I’ve never been a classics reader but something makes me want to try it. Also so excited for creation lake!!

The leather-bound World of Radiance editions are stunning! When I first read the throne of glass series, I had no idea there was a tandem read option for those books and it worked just fine for me, but I'm not a Chaol hater lol. If you are then maybe the tandem read will help you get through Tower of Dawn a little bit quicker. I am planning on doing the tandem read for my reread of the series though, just to try it out.
