Overbooked reading schedule? Welcome to BookTube, buddy! Congratulations on the 1,000 subs! It was fun to participate in the livestream. I look forward to our continued discussions on The Book of the New Sun. Thank you so much for prioritizing The Way of Edan, my friend. We do indeed have very similar fantasy influences, and I think you will see some of them on display in The Edan Trilogy. Happy reading!

Hopefully my expectations aren't crazy high, but I'm pretty certain The Way of Eden will be awesome. ♥️ Can't wait! 😀

I'm about 7 chapters into AQ too, Laura. Loving it, even though it's quite a gut punch so far. 😥 I was thinking I'd do a Farseer trilogy "Should you read it?" kind of video, and we'll definitely have another Friends on Books chat with Derri, Madison & Evie! 😀

Speed doesn't matter, quality is more important. Unless you've wildly overpromised on readalongs and so on, like me. Then speed's somewhat important. 😜

This is why I don't normally join readalongs/readathons lol It was a slow month for me but I'm enjoying the slower pace. I read/finished: *Fantasy* Malazan BotF 1: Gardens of the Moon (re-read) - I liked it the first time but this was a fantastic re-read. I'm re-reading Deadhouse Gates 😁 *Historical-Fantasy* Under Heaven / Guy Gavriel Kay - Easily the best book I read this month. *Urban Fantasy* Dresden Files 1: Storm Front (re-read) - Definitely smoother on the re-read, for me the series didn't start cooking until Grave Peril but for now the Dresden re-reads will do as palate cleansers. I also started reading from N.K Jemisin's collection How Long Til Black Future Month and I'm really enjoying it so far, just going to slot in a short story here and there. And so far in March I have finished Tad Williams' Dragonbone Chair. Im still bounciback and forth between Name of the Wind and my re-read of Deadhouse Gates and because I'm an impulsive moron I started re-reading Eye of the World by Robert Jordan lol

That's quite a list, Rogue, even without joining any readalongs. 😆 I really need to get to more GGK - I read Tigana and Fianovar ages ago, but haven't read any of his more historically based work.

A couple of slow months reading-wise for me in quantity, but high on quality, digging into the "Warlord Chronicle"-Trilogy by Bernard Cornwell (only finished "The Winter King" in Febuary, but will have both "Enemy of God" and "Excalibur" under my belt by the end of March at my current pace!). Just ordered a Paperback Copy of «The Way of Edan», along with the «Arthurian Age»-series by Sean Poage (reading the «Warlord Chronicle» Trilogy has really put me in the mood for «realistic» King Arthur stories, and I have also got my hands on Alfred Duggan’s Historical Novels set in Sub-Roman Britain «The Little Emperors» and «Conscience of the King»)! Have also bought digital copies of Duggan's "Winter Quarters" (following two Gauls joining the Roman Army during the time of the First Triumvirate, before becoming captured at the Battle at Carrhae by the Parthians) and "In the Grip of the Minotaur" by Arthur G. Brodeur & Farnham Bishop (Bronze Age swashbuckling from 1916!), Yeah, my TBR for this year is also way too full, thanks to Guy Gavriel Kay, Bernard Cornwell, Ken Liu, Tim Leach ++ etc.😂
@MattonBooks

I’m familiar with far too full TBRs. 😬 I’m a big Arthur fan, so Cornwell’s firmly on my TBR already, as well as a Le Morte reread. 🙂

Italo Calvino's Cosmicomics is one of my favourite reads of all time. I loved it. Paper Menagerie was very very good. Claw of the Conciliator is amazing of course. The Hobb and Martin readalongs are all well and good, but it is books that you read in the margin that I find most interesting.
@MattonBooks
@MattonBooks Жыл бұрын
I agree with about the margins Jeroen. But just fun reads are lots of fun, and i wouldn’t say Hobb & Martin are only that. So pitch Cosmicomics at me…

@@MattonBooks Cosmicomics are the short stories told by the being Qfwfq. Imagine an old Italian uncle telling stories of the good old days, but on a cosmic scale. Do you remember what it was like before the Big Bang? Qfwfq remembers. They were all packed like sardines! He also remembers the invention of colors. And when he learned to exit the water and live on the land. But his uncle refused to leave the water. And much more like that.

I've never read or watch Game of thrones because I only recently got into fantasy after reading hundreds of psychological/crime thrillers and got fed up and tired of them! I hated unrealistic fantasy books but now I read a few grimdark ones and I'm hooked!
