I do love and admire your passion for snakes. I’ve always been afraid of snakes, so watching your videos does help me not to be so afraid. There was a time I couldn’t even look at them on a screen and wouldn’t even look at pictures of them!!! So, thank you for helping me to feel a small bit more comfortable. The one thing that I can never get used to is when a Snake kills, then consumes their food! He alternates between large and small meals with her and has done for a little while. At thanksgiving she had a massive pig and he was wondering whether to keep feeding her huge meals like that or stick with a couple of rabbits. In the end he decided to alternate them so that she grows pretty quick with the big meals but her system gets a breather from massive prey items every other feeding.

Green anacondas often feed underwater, especially with small/medium prey they catch swimming on the surface. If they think that the time to consume the prey is longer than the time they can hold their breath, they will either take the prey on land, or leave it alone. Otherwise, they are perfectly fine eating underwater.

that's what I was thinking during that feeding. that was a huge risk continuing to hold onto the rabbit after Ivy grabbed it. He very well could have been seen as prey himself or mistaken as something trying to take the rabbit from her and either way would be a bad day

They like to eat fish, turtles, caimans, capybaras, pigs… so yes they do go fishing and eat under water like boa constrictors they go fishing in the river and they float on the water plants to catch fish and they end up in the ocean sometimes. 😂😹 I think anacondas use the water to drown the animals... Why don't you try and put some live fish on your anaconda's water and watch her go fishing? I think that would be cool to see.
