Fed's Mester on Monetary Policy, Outlook for Inflation

Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland President Loretta Mester says monetary policy is well-positioned and expects inflation to come down. Speaking with Mike McKee on Bloomberg Television, Mester also says three rate cuts in 2024 is probably no longer appropriate.

I think the Fed is losing touch. If you’re simply not being stimulative, they misinterpret that as “restrictive”.

The only policy they have left is forward guidance that’s why you’ve been hearing so much from all the federal reserve committee members. Big corporations will continue to do well while small businesses are getting crushed. Food and housing prices are still insane and will never go down.

If you’re an economist, Loretta Mester is far more “head turning” and gets your attention compared to an Angelina Jolie or Taylor Swift type.

I hate to see Mester leave in June. The new members aren't as effective. Her steadiness and wisdom will be missed.
