Alchemy ones work a little better if you cut the lid and use the aluminum sticker

normally the filter mesh in this plastic capsules are big and it let the water flow easily. To get a good taste and crema you need to press the coffee until the top, with this the cooffee near the filter is compressed. The coffee itself creates more resistance to the water and let the machine build more pressure. You know you did it right if ther is compressed cooffee in your lid

may be you should weight the coffee so has the same amount of coffee as you would normally get in a standard pod also you dont need to buy pods as you can reuse the one you buy the empty and just buy the lid stickers which come in packs of 100 you have plastic reuseable pods you can buy a stainless steel version but just over 15 pound to buy coffee you buy may not be ground to the same standard or may be mix with other coffee blends it may depend on the mess size so may vary between brands

Thanks for the comment. Although I’m fast approaching the conclusion that reusable capsules are not for me. They take far more time to use than the traditional ones and usually don’t end up tasting very good. The coffee in the originals and the L’or capsules are very close in quality. With recycling available it means they don’t go to waste. Although I’m always on the lookout for alternatives

Have you tried more coffee + tamping to slow the extraction? If you had a grinder a finer grind may also help

I tried a fine grind but it just ended up clogging the water flow altogether :/

@@7auros I had a go at this the other day. You'll need a decent espresso grinder with small adjustments so not really an affordable option. I used my mazzer mini electric. Managed to get good results after a couple of adjustments to the grind ( first attempted choked the machine). I tamped with a nespresso sized metal tamper from Aliexpress. It worked well slightly courser grind than my expresso machine. The shot tasted better than any nespresso pod I have ever had. I used some fresh Columbian coffee I had roasted a few days before.

Difficult to say, I don’t use these any more. If the top of the capsule isn’t punctured by the internal prongs in the machine then I would say it will be fine. Although different machines may have slightly different build quality and tolerances.
