3. SOUNDBITE (English) Nigel Farage, Reform UK party leader and parliamentary candidate in Clacton-on-Sea:
"Never before in the history of these islands have people's lives been so fundamentally changed and affected by a population explosion on a level that nobody could even have imagined. The population is up 10 million since (former British prime minister, Tony) Blair came to power, 6 million since (former British prime minister) David Cameron came to power. And the impact of that on accessing health services, the impact of that on rents, the impact of that on housing availability, the impact of that on traffic, on infrastructure, on everything. And I would argue very strongly that the population explosion has diminished the quality of life of everybody in this country. And yet, bizarrely, the other two (parties) would rather not even talk about it because they're both responsible."
4. Reform UK campaign banners
5. SOUNDBITE (English) Nigel Farage, Reform UK party leader and parliamentary candidate in Clacton-on-Sea:
"I've always been a disruptor. You know, I think we have a sort of status quo. The truth is that between Labour and Conservatives, on economics there are almost no differences, on immigration there are almost no differences, on really big issues they argue like, you know, they argue as if they're in a catfight. But the reality is there are no big philosophical fundamental differences at all. And we've injected something new and fresh into this campaign. I have no doubt we are the subject of most conversations around people's breakfast tables. And hey, you know, we might just keep growing. I think we've got a good chance of that."

12. SOUNDBITE (English) Dorothy Carr, Clacton-on-Sea resident:
"This country is getting (to be) a joke, a complete joke. (Indistinct)... if there's a war, people should come over, but the boat people, it's bad, because we're putting them in hotels, giving them money and our soldiers are sleeping on the street, and it's not right."
13. SOUNDBITE (English) Janet Clancy (left) and Sean Clancy (right), Clacton-on-Sea residents:
Janet: "Immigration."
Sean: "NHS (National Health Service)."
Janet: "The NHS, yeah."
Sean: "It's mainly the NHS really."
Janet: "And all the promises and nothing ever gets done. You feel like every time they vote whoever it is, whether it's Labour or Tory (nickname for Conservatives), they're just lining their pockets to be, you know, they're earning a lot of money."
Sean: "That's how it seems, the rich just get richer and everyone else stays as they are."
